Tiffany glanced down at Skeeter's hand on her thigh and then back into his eyes as they sat side by side on the futon in his Bleecker Street apartment.
"I thought we were just going to talk over everything Skeeter," she said starting to feel weak at his familiar touch.
"It's been a long time Baby. Why don't we go to your place," he said edging a little closer to her.
"But I'm here now and that's what we agreed to."
"Yeah, we did. I just thought maybe you'd like to show me your place," he said not wanting to tell her that he was worried Jan might stop by and catch her there with him.
"Are you worried that Jan is going to come by?"
"Well, she could," he admitted.
"Skeeter I shouldn't have come here," she said starting to get up from the futon.
"No. Baby. Don't go," he said grabbing her by the arm and pulling her closer to him.
"Skeeter please be honest with me.  I don't want to be here if Jan comes by.  It was bad enough that she came by the office and we were alone in the kitchen."
"Why don't you let me worry about Jan," he said unable to keep his eyes off her cleavage in the low cut sweater.
"Skeeter I have to work with Jan.  She's a client of Manhattan Party Planning.  You're engaged to her now."
"I told you how it happened.  She bought the ring and just sprung the whole thing on me."
"Skeeter I think I made a mistake coming here."
"No. Baby. You didn't make a mistake.  How can you say that after the way we kissed in the kitchen?"
"I don't know.  I don't know what to think."
"I think you still love me Tiffany."
"I don't know," she said looking away to avoid his eyes.
"Tiffany baby, I've never stopped loving you," he said putting his arm around her and pulling her closer to him.
"But I can't be here if Jan comes by. I just can't deal with her Skeeter."
"That's why I suggested that we go over to your place."
"Then you are worried that she might come by."
"I've thought about it, but I'm willing to do anything just to be with you."
"You're willing to risk your engagement to a very wealthy woman?" she asked looking him directly in the eyes.
"Yes."
"Well, I'm not willing to put up with the wrath of Jan Morgan. Sometimes it's really hard for me to believe you could be with her," Tiffany said.
"Me too," he admitted.
"Do you love her at all Skeeter?"
"Not really."
"Then why? Why did you let this get so out of hand?"
"I told you Baby. I thought you were going to marry that rich foreigner Amir and I guess it was spite or pride," he said.
"Oh Skeeter.  I don't know what to say."
"Say you still love me Tiffany. Just say you still love me," he said as he pulled her into his arms.
