CASTING! BECOME A STAR ON THIS INTERACTIVE SOAP OPERA. SEND YOUR PHOTO, CLICK FOR DETAILS! Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday January 17th 2003 Skeeter tucked in the last corner of the fresh sheets he'd put on his bed. He glanced around the bedroom looking for any traces of earrings or jewelry that Trisha might have left behind. Satisfied that everything was in order for Tiffany's visit, he walked towards the kitchen to get a beer. He opened the door of the refrigerator and took out a can and popped the top. He walked into the living room and took a seat on the sofa picking up the remote control and turning on the TV when the phone rang. He quickly turned down the volume and picked up the phone. "Yeah," he said taking a sip of his beer and listening for a response. "Skeeter, it's me," Jan said. "Oh hi Baby, how are you? I called your office and they said you weren't there. Then I tried your house and Ilona said she thought you'd gone shopping," he said referring to her housekeeper. "I went by the New York Times." "Yeah, how ya doin' Baby?" he asked ignoring her remark. He was more worried about the possibility that she'd overheard Tiffany and him when she stopped by where Tiffany worked. "I'm fine. I guess I should ask how you're doing Skeeter?" "Great." "Yeah? And how is Tiffany?" "She's okay." "I see. You said you came by to talk to her?" Jan asked. She hesitated hoping he would volunteer more information about the conversation that she'd overheard between the couple. They didn't know she had come into the living room and was listening at the door to the kitchen. "Yeah. I was talking over the divorce with her." "Yes, that's what you told me. Did she agree to the divorce?" "I think I've convinced her," he lied remembering the soft sweet taste of Tiffany's lips. "I sure hope so." "It's going to all work out," Skeeter said feeling confident that Jan had just walked in and hadn't overheard them and their rekindled passion. "Skeeter you and Tiffany... didn't?" she hesitated feeling pained by the memory of what she had heard. "No. No, just talkin'," he lied. "Good. Why don't we go out and celebrate tonight?" she said, choosing denial as a method of coping for now. "I've got reports to work on tonight Baby," he lied as he glanced at the clock and realized Tiffany would be coming over soon. "Forget the reports. I told you that once we're married I'll put you into your own lingerie business." "I'm countin' on it too. But I'm kinda tired tonight. Why don't we do something special tomorrow night?" "Tiffany isn't coming over is she?" she asked having overheard Skeeter asking his estranged wife to come to his apartment tonight. "No. Nothing like that," he lied laughing as if that were ridiculous. "Good. Because I wouldn't want you to embarrass me Skeeter." "Of course not." "I mean our picture is going to be in the engagement section of the New York Times this Sunday. I don't want to find out you've changed your mind or something." "In the paper this Sunday? I thought you said they couldn't put it in for another two months," he said remembering their conversation a few days ago and the relief he'd felt that he had time to get out of this engagement. "Yes I pulled some strings and put a rush on it," she said remembering how she'd threatened her Father's political influence a few days ago to get the engagement in right away. She'd stopped by today hoping to stop the announcement after overhearing Skeeter with Tiffany but found out that it was too late it had already gone to press. "You know I've decided on a spring wedding and spring is right around the corner," she said satisfied this would work to her advantage. "Spring?" He said as he heard the sound of the intercom buzzer. "I'm also looking at lines of lingerie for the store you'll soon open," she lied. "Can we talk all of this over later Baby?" he said as the buzzer sounded repeatedly. CONTINUED MONDAY.
