Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday January 2nd 2003 "Look I'll come down and talk to him myself Nicole"; Clark called out from the upstairs bedroom as he heard his wife talking to what he thought was the newspaper delivery boy downstairs at the front door. Clark placed his New Year's resolution list on the top of his desk and pushed back the chair to go downstairs and tell the delivery boy about the wet newspapers on rainy days. "Get out of here now," Nicole said to Greg starting to close the front door of the townhouse on her secret lover. "I love you Nicole. Just one quick kiss," he said leaning towards her and moistening his lips. Clark dropped the new gold pen that his mother had given him for Christmas and bent over to pick it up off the bedroom floor. He heard the strained sound of Nicole's voice and wondered if she had already given the undeserving newspaper boy his holiday bonus. He suddenly thought that perhaps if he gave the boy a larger tip maybe he would be more careful with the newspapers on rainy days. Clark turned and walked back to his desk and picked up his wallet to take out an additional bonus feeling good about his decision. "Greg, Clark's going to come downstairs. Go home and don't call me again," Nicole said. "But Nicole, will you call me?" "No. I think I better quit seeing you if you're going to call over here and come to the door like this," she said. Clark thought he heard exasperation in his wife's voice and stopped at the door of the bedroom to listen. "You can't quit seeing me. You just can't." "Oh yes I can. Now go home and I don't want to ever see you again Greg. I mean it," Nicole said in an angry whisper. "But Nicole. I live right next door. How can you say that?" the young neighbor said as his eyes started to fill with tears. "I'll tell Clark that you're bothering me." Clark stood still at the top of the stairs when he heard his name mentioned. He gripped the twenty-dollar bill tight in his hand as he listened. "But Nicki, you're just upset right now. We've been through so much together. You can't let this happen," Greg said reaching out for her. "Get out of here now Greg," she said backing up so that he couldn't touch her. "Nicole, tell him I'll talk to him," Clark said starting down the stairs. Nicole quickly slammed the door closed and turned to see her husband descending the stairs. "He's gone," she said smiling as her heart raced. "I wanted to talk to him. Did he give you a hard time?" "Oh. Nothing I couldn't handle." "Let me see if he's still out there," Clark said walking towards the door. "I gave him a tip just like you said," Nicole said standing in front of the door. "I want to talk to him," Clark said moving closer to the door. "I said I handled it Clark." "Of course you did, but I want to talk to him," Clark said noticing that she wasn't moving away from the door. "Go ahead then," she said moving away from the front door certain that Greg had already gone next door. Clark opened the front door greeted only by cold air. "See he's gone. I took care of it," Nicole said taking a deep breath after a close call. "There's that guy next door," Clark said under his breath as he spotted Greg walking towards the gate of the Mews to leave. "So what?" "That guys weird. He's not delivering the newspapers is he?" Clark asked remembering the many times he'd seen Greg lurking about recently. "No. The delivery boy is already gone." "That guy has stopped at the gate and he's looking back here," Clark said. "Ignore him", Nicole said as her heart started to race again. "No. I don't like this," Clark said walking out of the door and closing it behind him. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
