Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday December 26th 2002
Tiffany turned on her computer and took a sip of her morning coffee. Her boss Clark and his wife Nicole were in Florida for the holidays and weren't expected back for a few days.  She opened the New York Times she had picked up on the way to work. She glanced up over the newspaper when the front door opened.
"Hay Tiffany," Greg said closing the door behind him.
"Hi.  Nicole's not here," Tiffany said knowing that the young man was looking for his secret lover Nicole.
"I know.  She didn't leave until late on Christmas Eve night," he said walking towards the sofa and taking a seat.
"Late at night?  Her flight was supposed to leave around noon," Tiffany said watching the young man grimace at her words.
"Yeah, she missed her plane."
"I didn't know that.   Do you know what happened?"
"I think I do," he said wiping his tear filled eyes with the sleeve of his shirt.
"What's the matter?"
"I don't mean to bother you."
"No. It's okay."
"I don't have anybody to talk to you know."
"What's wrong?"
"I think Nicki's cheating on me," he said as his voice cracked in pain.
"Cheating on you?  Greg, Nicole's married," Tiffany said wishing she didn't sound so elderly.
"I know she's married... but I just don't understand.  I thought... " he said as his voice trailed off in pain.
"You thought what?"
"That she'd leave Clark and marry me."
"You?" Tiffany said regretting the inflection in her voice.
"Yes.  I mean, I love her so much.  Every time I think things are going to work out, you know," he said.
"You mean when you come over and she lets you come upstairs while Clark's out of town?"
"Yeah."
"Greg, that isn't love. That's just... " Tiffany stopped herself when she saw him wiping the tears from his eyes.
"Look I know I'm young, but I'll be out of college in three years.  She could marry me and get a job until I could support her or I could work a part time job and we could... "
"Greg.  Nicole is married.  She just married Clark."
"How long ago?"
"Only a few months ago."
"Well, see that means she just made a mistake.  She couldn't love him and love me this way.  But then I just don't understand why she'd... " he said rubbing his eyes again.
"What happened?"
"I came to the door Christmas Eve morning because I knew Clark had left," he said remembering the events.
"That was a mistake, see?" Tiffany said hoping to point out his errors.
"No.  I was looking out of my window next door when I saw this guy in a black leather jacket come to this door," he said pointing to the door. "Then I rushed over here to see her and... "
"What?" Tiffany asked wondering if something horrible had happened.
"I heard them in here against the front door... " he said looking down and sniffling vigorously.
"What?"
"They were doin' it against the front door."
"No.  You're imagining this," Tiffany said as she realized that anything was possible with Nicole.
"No I'm not imagining this. I even heard them talking and the noise as they... "
