Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday December 12th 2002
"I'll be right back," Clark said walking towards the front door of the townhouse to leave.
"Take your time Clark.  I need some time to talk to Tiffany," Nicole said pulling her sheer robe around her thighs as she glanced towards Tiffany seated beside her on the sofa.
"Okay," he said closing the door.
"Thanks for coming in Tiffany," Nicole said smiling awkwardly.
"I don't know why I bothered," Tiffany said.
"Oh come on.  You've worked for Clark for years.  Surely a little misunderstanding isn't going to run you off."
"He fired me."
"He was just angry."
"Angry because your boyfriend next door called and I lied to him to cover up for your affair Nicole."
"You are a very considerate person Tiffany."
"Is that what you call this?  I think I lied to cover."
"It's a small working space and this is difficult."
"I didn't have any problems until you came along," Tiffany said remembering the years she had worked for Clark before he was married.
"Gee.  You really are angry. I've never seen you like this before."
"What do you expect?"
"Well, I think you should just forgive Clark."
"How do I know he won't do it again."
"I give you my word."
"I'm tired of lying for you Nicole.  I'm tired of all of this."
"I haven't done that much that you have had to conceal from my husband."
"What about the thing with Stanley?" she said referring to her secret affair with the wealthy older man.
"My relationship with Stanley started long before my relationship with Clark."
"But my sister Starlene is in love with Stanley. I don't like not telling her that he came over when Clark was in Florida."
"You didn't tell Starlene because you didn't want to hurt her, isn't that the reason?"
"Some of it."
"Well, see.  You can't blame me for all of it."
"But you shouldn't have let Stanley come upstairs with you when Clark wasn't home Nicole."
"I needed him to fix my fax machine," she lied.
"I've never heard the fax machine bump up against the wall before Nicole," Tiffany said as she remembered the sounds of their passion and how embarrassed she had been.
"Do you stand at the bottom of the stairs listening?" Nicole asked certain that Tiffany had in the past.
"No," Tiffany lied feeling her face redden.
"Well, then you must have heard wrong.  Everything between Stanley and me is perfectly innocent," she lied.
"What about Greg next door?"
"What about him?"
"He's been upstairs when Clark's out of town too."
"Innocent, totally innocent.  But I wouldn't want Clark to know. You wouldn't want your sister Starlene to know that you didn't tell her about Stanley, right?"
"Yes."
"See, that's how I feel. It's innocent but it might hurt an innocent person if they're told."
"So Greg helped you with the fax machine too?" Tiffany asked knowing that Nicole was trying to manipulate her.
"No.  Be serious. We're adults," Nicole said starting to tire of the conversation. "I'm telling you right now.  If you know what's good for you you'll keep your mouth shut. My Father would be very upset if my husband's secretary jeopardized his daughter's marriage," she said referring to her mob boss Father.
