Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday December 2nd 2002
"Is that you Tiffany?"  Starlene called out from the living room of their apartment overlooking Washington Square Park when she heard the front door close.
"Yes, it's me," Tiffany said taking off her coat and hanging it on the rack beside the door.
"I'm in here," Starlene said picking up the remote to the TV and turning down the sound on the news. She glanced up and saw her sister walking into the living room.  "What's the matter?  You look horrible," she said noticing that Tiffany's mascara was smeared from crying.
"It's been a horrible day. Just the worst ever," Tiffany said taking a seat in a nearby chair as the tears started to roll down her cheeks.
"What on earth happened?"
"Clark fired me. I think," Tiffany said as the hot tears ran onto her lips.
"He did or you think he did?"
"I think he did," she said between sobs.
"What happened Tiffany?"
"He and Nicole were upstairs getting ready to go out to dinner.  He told Nicole that Jan and Skeeter were getting married and all hell broke loose."
"Really.  Because Jan is marrying your husband?" Starlene asked shocked.
"Yeah. Can you believe that?  I'm the one that should be upset, but no. NO! He fires me."
"Why?  Why did he fire you?"
"That young guy next door called and Nicole had just walked out of the door."
"You mean that boy Greg that she's having an affair with?"
"Yeah.  Anyway Greg asked me if Nicole was there and I told him she'd just left. Then when I hung up Clark asked me who called. So I lied and said a telemarketing person."
"And…" Starlene asked as her sister took a Kleenex from her pocket and blew her nose.
"He said I should have taken the person's name.  Then he got angrier and blamed the lack of business on me for having an affair with his client Amir. Blah, blah, blah." Tiffany said wiping the tears from her cheeks.
"So I hope you told him that Nicole's a cheating little hussy?"
"No.  He said he was going to get an office. He said that the close quarters of working and living in the townhouse was a strain on his marriage.  I agreed and then he said that would be costly and blamed me because he didn't have enough money.  I got angry and said that wasn't fair and he told me to leave," Tiffany said as her shoulders shook from sobbing.
"Damn him and damn Nicole," Starlene said.
"Damn Skeeter too," Tiffany said.
"Where do you think Nicole went when she left the office?"
"I don't know."
"Did she go next door to Greg's house?"
"No, 'cause I saw him walk past the window when Clark was talking to me."
"mm…hum" Starlene said knowingly.
"You think she might have gone to Skeeter's?" Tiffany said looking up at her sister.
"Yep".
"I'll find out," Tiffany said jumping up from the sofa.
