Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday November 21st 2002
"Tiffany", Starlene called out as she opened the front door to the townhouse where her sister worked.  She glanced at the desk and didn't see her sister.  "Tiffany I'm here," she called out again thinking her sister was probably in the kitchen.
Tiffany walked through the swinging doors of the kitchen and stood watching Starlene take off her fake fur jacket. Starlene threw the pink jacket on the back of the sofa and turned to see her sister staring at her.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Starlene asked noticing the mascara smeared down Tiffany's cheeks and her red eyes.
"What's wrong with me?  Probably the fact that I'm still breathing."
"Wow, glad I dropped by."
"Why did you stop by?"  Tiffany asked walking to her desk and taking a seat.
"To see if you wanted to go out to lunch."
"I can't.  Clark's out to lunch with Jan."
"Oh. Is that why you're so upset?" Starlene said walking towards Tiffany's desk.
"Well, no.  I'm upset over why they're going out to lunch," Tiffany said taking a seat at her desk as the tears started to roll down her cheeks.
"What on earth is wrong?"
"Starlene... Jan is engaged to Skeeter," Tiffany said grabbing a Kleenex and wiping the fresh tears from her cheek. Her shoulders shook as she cried.
"Oh my God," Starlene said as her mouth dropped open.
"Yes.  She stopped by this morning to show off her ring." Tiffany said glancing up at Starlene.
"Ring? She even has a ring?" Starlene asked standing in front of Tiffany's desk watching her sister.
"Not just any ring Starlene, it's a rock. I mean that diamond is the size of this paper weight," Tiffany said picking up a paperweight and banging it down on her desk.
"Oh my God," Starlene said.
"You're as surprised as I was," Tiffany said.
"This is truly unbelievable," Starlene said shocked that her playboy ex-brother-in-law would make this kind of decision.
"I knew it. I knew it all along that Skeeter was seeing her. They have been sneaking around behind my back all this time."
"Yeah, you sure were right."
"The nerve of her. The very nerve of her to come in here this morning to show me that ring.  She said 'it's the least I could do.  I didn't want you to learn about it in the newspapers or on television,'" Tiffany said in a mocking voice as she shook her head in disgust.
"Oh my God," Starlene said taking a seat in the chair beside Tiffany's desk.  "Did you talk to Skeeter yet?"
"No.  He's such a liar.  And I can't figure out where he would get the money to buy a ring like that either."
"Oh my God."
"Starlene stop saying that.  Can't you say anything else?" Tiffany said wiping her face with a Kleenex.
"If I marry Stanley then Jan will be my step daughter and she's old enough to be my mother and... ," Starlene said wide-eyed.
"Oh stop it." 
"But it's true Tiffany."
"There won't be a wedding I can assure you of that."
"How?" Starlene said as she wondered if her older lover Stanley knew his daughter was engaged to a poor lingerie salesman like Skeeter.
