Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday November 14th 2002 "Mr. Morgan the senator called while you were on the other line and said to tell you that he will be stopping by next week," Stanley's secretary said over the intercom as the older man sat at his desk in his plush office in the Empire State Building. "Fine, that's fine." "Mr. Morgan did you remember that I need to take some extra time at lunch today?" the secretary asked. "Oh. Yes, sure go ahead. I can answer the phone for an hour." "Thanks Mr. Morgan, I'll leave now. Hopefully the teacher won't have too much to complain about," she said referring to meeting her son's teacher at school today. "Good luck. Take your time. I know it's not easy being a single Mom," Stanley said opening his desk drawer and taking out a copy of the latest men's magazine. He quickly opened it to the centerfold and started to read the young girl's quotes about the kind of man she wanted in her future. The phone rang on his desk interrupting his thoughts and dreams. "Do you want me to get that Mr. Morgan?" the secretary called out from the front door down the hallway. "No. Go ahead. I'll get it," Stanley said picking up the phone as he listened to the sounds of the glass door of his office being locked as his secretary left. "Morgan's office," Stanley said. "Is Stanley there?" a gruff masculine voice asked. "This is he," Stanley said trying to figure out if he'd ever heard this voice before. "Good. I gotta couple of things to tell you Morgan." "Who is this?" Stanley asked dropping the girly magazine on the desk in front of him and staring down at the well-endowed young girl in the center. "This is a family friend of the Mascioni family," the man said. "Mascioni?" "You forget so soon?" "You mean Nicole's family?" "That's right." "How is her Father?" Stanley asked nervously hoping he'd never hear from Nicole's mob boss father again. "This message ain't from her Father," the man said. "Oh! I see... " Stanley said laughing slightly with nervous relief. "I'm a friend of little Nicki's. I've known her for years. I helped her through her puberty." "Oh she's a nice girl. How is she?" Stanley asked feeling a pain in his chest. "Nicki's been complaining that you promised her some things and you didn't come through for her." "Oh I was going to help her get an apartment for a friend of hers and the deal fell through." "Did you tell Mr. Mascioni you were talking to his daughter again and making her promises you didn't keep?" "No. No. I didn't." "Well, I can tell you this right now. You better not be promising little Nicki stuff you can't deliver. It makes her mad, and she's like her Father in that way. I'll get her the apartment she wanted. Her Father doesn't know anything about this yet. She got married so her Father would leave her alone. She wants her Father to think she's happily married. I've worked for Nicki's Father for years. I've been taking care of Nicki's problems and I can handle anything she might need. I don't want to hear of the likes of you ever disappointin' her… you hear?" the man growled. "Well, no of course not. I mean she's married and she's a very young woman," Stanley said trying to sound convincing. "And you're an old man, don't ever lay a hand on her again. She tells me everything. We're close, really close. You got it?" "Yes, of course. I'd never think of... " Stanley said hearing the stranger slam the phone down. Stanley hung up his phone and closed the girly magazine on his desk trying to ignore the pain in his arm and chest. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
