Starlene called out as she closed the door to their apartment overlooking Washington Square Park. "Yeah, in here," Tiffany answered taking her feet off the coffee table and turning down the sound on the TV with the remote. "How was your day?" Starlene asked throwing a stack of mail on the table nearby and unbuttoning her fur trimmed pink jacket. "Okay, uneventful for the first time in years," Tiffany said watching her sister walk into the living room carrying the mail from downstairs. "Oh wow, look what I got," Starlene said holding up a copy of Millennium Bride Magazine. "That's your first issue isn't it?" Tiffany said smiling as she watched Starlene thumb through a couple of pages before tossing the magazine on the coffee table so she could sort through the remaining mail. "Have you and Stanley set the final date?" "No. I want to have a big announcement party. That's what's holding us up now." "Oh," Tiffany sighed unconvinced that Stanley would ever really commit to a wedding date with her young sister. "Look here's something for you from an attorney's office," Starlene said reading the return address on the envelope. "Attorney?" Tiffany said taking the envelope from her sister and reading the address. "Rosenberger, Levine and Weinstein," Tiffany read out loud as she gently opened the envelope with her long manicured fingernails. "What does it say?" Starlene asked taking a seat beside her sister on the sofa and watching her open the papers. "It's divorce papers," Tiffany said quickly scanning the legal document. "Wow. You didn't tell me that you and Skeeter were finally going to get a divorce," Starlene said. "I didn't know," Tiffany said glancing through the papers. "You mean Skeeter filed the papers?" "Yeah," she said quickly skimming over the last page of the document. "I wonder why he decided to do that?" "I'm going to find out," Tiffany said putting the papers back into the envelope and reaching for the phone on the coffee table. "You want a Diet Coke?" Starlene asked getting up and walking towards the kitchen. "No. A glass of wine," Tiffany said dialing the familiar phone number on Bleecker Street. "Tiffany you aren't upset about the divorce are you?" Starlene asked as she took a wineglass from the counter and reached for the bottle of wine. "No. I don't know if there will be a divorce or not," Tiffany said putting her finger to her lips to signal to her sister to be quiet that the phone was ringing in her estranged husband's apartment. "Hello," Skeeter answered. "Skeeter what's going on?" "Oh, you got the papers?" "Well, yes. What's going on? Why would you file for the divorce without talking to me first?" "We've talked for four years. I thought it was time for us to move on with our lives," he said watching as Trisha walked out of his bathroom wrapped in a damp towel. "But there are probably some details to get settled before we can finalize a divorce," Tiffany said taking the glass of wine from Starlene and watching her sister take a seat beside her on the sofa. "Whatever you want, it's yours," Skeeter said admiring Trisha's firm young body as she dropped the damp towel and reached for her clothes on the bed beside him. CONTINUED TOMORROW.
