Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday November 12th 2002 "Look Baby, I'm interested," Skeeter said getting up from his futon sofa and walking towards the kitchen to get another beer. "Interested. Is that all you can say?" Jan said turning to watch his prideful swagger. "Yeah, well it's been years that we've been sneaking around like this. Now you all of a sudden spring this on me... well, I need some things to be understood," he said opening the refrigerator door and taking out another beer. He turned to glance towards her as she walked to the kitchen door to watch him. "Okay Skeeter. What exactly is it that you want?" "Well, just because you say your Daddy's going to put money in your name once you're married is all fine and good for you, but what about the groom?" he asked eyeing her suspiciously. "You mean what would you get out of this?" "More or less," he said popping the top on the beer can and walking back towards the living room as she followed him. "Whatever husbands are entitled to I suppose." "Why wouldn't you marry one of your Father's rich friends or something like that?" "Because I don't happen to be in a relationship with any of them," she said starting to get angry that her marriage proposal was taking this long. "Oh, so if one of them were available then you'd marry him?" "Look Skeeter if you're not interested then just say so. I can find someone else," she said taking a seat on the futon and picking a piece of lint from her designer suit. "Is it that easy to find a husband?" "I've never wanted a husband until now, or I would have been married," she said wishing that were true. "Why don't you let me think about it a little," he said taking a sip of his beer as he sat down on the futon beside her. He glanced at his watch and realized that Trisha would be calling any minute. Trisha said she would stop by the apartment when she got off work on her second job at the nightclub downstairs. "Think about it? How insulting to me! What has this been about with us all of these years?" she said jumping up from the futon and starting to pace in front of the living room window. "Jan I'm the one that has been insulted all these years. When I wanted to go public with our relationship you were afraid your Father would get angry and cut off your money. Now all of a sudden you sneak around and read his papers. You found out you can get more money if you're married, so you expect me to be ready to settle down," he said slamming his beer can down on the coffee table in front of him. "Is that what the problem is? You don't want to settle down?" "Well, Jan you took off and went to Europe only a month ago and never even so much as talked to me about it. You can't expect a man like me to wait around," he said glancing at his watch again. "Okay, Skeeter I can understand that. But I'm here now and making you an offer that I don't see how you can refuse." "How about giving me a night or two to think it over?" "Okay, you have until the end of the week," she said jumping up from the futon and picking up her mink coat from the chair nearby. "Okay, sounds good Baby," he said getting up to open the door for her. "We'll have lunch Friday and you'll give me your answer," she said walking towards the door. "It's a deal Baby," he said kissing her on the cheek. The phone rang on the coffee table. "Oh and Skeeter... I want us to go public with this next week." "Yeah, yeah Baby," he said rushing to answer the phone before Trisha talked into the answering machine. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
