Where have you been?" Clark asked as his bride walked into the living room of the townhouse where they live and work. "Shopping," she said closing the door and tossing designer bags on the floor. "What did you buy honey?" Clark asked eyeing the names on the bags nervously. "Clothes, new clothes," she said taking off her wool coat and hanging it on the rack in the entrance hall. "Did you really need new clothes honey?" he asked noticing the familiar designer names. "Yes. Why? Can't we afford for me to go shopping?" she asked clearly annoyed as she glanced toward Tiffany's desk and noticed she was listening to their conversation. "Oh, I'm sure it's okay. I didn't mean to upset you," he said walking towards her and kissing her on the cheek. "Good. What's new?" she asked hoping to change the subject before another argument over money started in front of his secretary. "Well, actually there is something new, isn't there Tiffany?" he said glancing towards Tiffany. "Sure is," Tiffany said wondering how this news would go over with Nicole. "Well, what is it?" Nicole said walking to the sofa and taking a seat. "Starlene and Stanley are getting married," Clark said smiling. "What?" Nicole said frowning as she glanced towards Tiffany. "Yeah, it seems that Stanley has agreed to set a date finally," Tiffany said. "Isn't that wonderful?" Tiffany asked wishing Starlene could have been around to see the expression on Nicole's face. "Is this for real?" Nicole asked. "Yeah, I think so. I can't wait to hear what Jan will have to say about this. Just think she'll be your sister's... Oh my God... stepdaughter," Clark said laughing. "Yeah, well I don't think Jan will be amused," Tiffany said giggling at the thought. "Very funny," Nicole said jumping up from the sofa and grabbing her purse. She walked quickly towards the front door. "Where are you going sweetheart?" Clark asked as he watched his new bride take her coat off the rack in the entrance hall. "Out," she said as she opened the front door. "Where Nicole? I've made reservations to take you to dinner tonight," Clark said rushing towards the door. "I don't want dinner," she said buttoning her coat. "But it's our anniversary," he said. "Anniversary?" "Yeah, don't you remember?" he said walking towards the door hoping to stop her from leaving. "No. What anniversary?" she said frowning. "The first time we... " He said lowering his voice and smiling slightly. "Oh. Well, I have to go out," she said closing the door. "Gee, I hope she comes back in time for dinner," Clark said walking to the window and watching as Nicole walked towards the front gate of the Mews. "I guess she's upset over Stanley getting married to Starlene. You know she and Stanley were friends," he said as if he didn't know they had been lovers. "Yes, they were close," Tiffany said amazed at the way he could completely deny his new bride's former love life. "Nicole's so friendly too," Clark said getting closer to the window as he watched his pretty new bride. "Yeah, she is," Tiffany said watching him straining to watch Nicole as she left. "I mean she's outside now talking to the boy next door as if they were old friends. She's amazing," he said his voice dropping. He nervously stepped to the side of the window so that he could watch her and she wouldn't see him as she talked to her young secret lover on the corner of MacDougal Alley. "Yes, she's amazing," Tiffany agreed wondering if Clark would ever find out that Nicole had the young boy upstairs in their bedroom while Clark was in Florida. CONTINUED TOMORROW.
