Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday October 28th 2002
"Clark when did you get back?" Stanley said as he closed the front door to the townhouse on MacDougal Alley.
"Just now," Clark said smiling as Stanley walked into the living room shaking the rain from his umbrella, putting it into the stand and closing the front door.
"Nicole how are you?" Stanley asked pretending this was the first time he'd seen Clark's young bride today.
"Soaking wet from the rain, can't you see?" Nicole said rubbing her arms with her hands.
"Yeah, maybe you better get dried off," Stanley said careful to avoid her eyes.
"You look like you've been out in the rain a while too," Clark said as he noticed Stanley's wet suit and shoes.
"Yeah.  I was just on my way uptown and thought I'd stop by," Stanley said glancing towards Tiffany as she walked into the living room carrying hot chocolate for Nicole.
"Hi Stanley," Tiffany said walking towards Nicole and handing her the steaming cup.
"Tiffany I came back... I mean by... to tell you to turn on the TV.  The set was on in my limo and I thought you'd want to know," Stanley said wondering if Clark had noticed his blunder.
"What?  Is there something wrong?"
"A news conference about Amir's wife," he said walking to the television set and turning it on.  He flipped through several channels until he saw Amir on the screen standing in front of his Upper East Side mansion.
"Mr. Hada, we heard earlier reports that your wife's disappearance might have been connected to the Mafia," the reporter said holding a microphone towards Amir as photographers snapped shots of the handsome billionaire.
"Yes, how you say... unsubstantiated reports," Amir said in his broken English shaking his head.
Stanley took a step back from the TV set in order not to block the view.  Tiffany stepped closer to the television the pain clearly visible on her face as she got the first glimpse of her lover in weeks.
"You say these reports are unsubstantiated. Then who leaked them out into media?" the reporter asked.
Amir started to answer the question when another man in a dark suit walked towards the microphone and looked into the camera. "I'm Mr. Siller, Mr. Hada's attorney," the man said as reporters hurriedly took note of the new name.  "The reports of Mafia involvement in the disappearance of Mrs. Hada are speculation due to the fact that Mr. Hada owns some very desirable waterfront property here in Manhattan," the lawyer said as Amir stepped back allowing him to take over the interview.
"Then what is the status of the investigation and the rumors we've heard this morning about a new development in the case?" the reporter asked holding the microphone towards Mr. Siller.
"The investigation is ongoing. The police and the FBI are working diligently to find Mrs. Hada."
"The FBI has been brought into the case?"
"Yes," the lawyer said as reporters took quick note of the new development.
"Where does it stand now?  Has there been any new information to come out in the last few days?" the reporter asked frustrated.  He wondered why his supervisor had insisted that he cover this story instead of the leaks about another corrupt stock trade on Wall Street.
"The FBI did release a statement this morning," Mr. Siller said glancing towards Amir as if to brace him for what he was about to say.
