Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday October 23rd 2002 "Nicole, come back... we can work this out," Stanley called out as Nicole rushed down the stairs of the townhouse where she lived and worked in Greenwich Village. Tiffany was almost back to her desk after standing near the staircase eavesdropping. She rushed towards her desk as Nicole walked into the living room. "Have you been listening to us?" Nicole asked angrily as she took her coat from the closet beside the front door. "No. I just walked to the window to watch the rain," Tiffany lied pulling out her desk chair and taking a seat. "You better keep your mouth shut about anything you've overheard today Tiffany Diamond," Nicole said pulling on her raincoat and searching for an umbrella. "Nicole. Don't leave. I want to talk to you," Stanley said walking down the stairs and towards the entrance hall and Nicole. "We've talked Stanley. I've got to get out of here. This place is driving me crazy." "Want me to take you to lunch?"' "No." "Come on Nicole. You need to eat. Let me take you to lunch, its pouring rain and my limo is right outside." "No! I'm going out. Tiffany, if Clark calls tell him I went out on a sales call or something," Nicole said grabbing an umbrella and pushing it open almost hitting Stanley in the face. "Come on honey. My limo is right out there," Stanley said grabbing his coat and rushing out of the front door behind Nicole. Stanley slammed the door behind him never bothering to say goodbye to Tiffany. Tiffany watched as Stanley and Nicole stood in the rain in front of the living room window. She could see they were still arguing. She knew from the conversation she had overheard when they were upstairs that their relationship was on a much deeper level than she had ever realized. She watched as Stanley reached out and touched Nicole's arm. She saw Nicole nod her head and the two walked away from the window. Tiffany quickly got out of her chair and walked towards the window to watch. She saw the limo driver holding open the door to the long white car parked at the curb. She saw Nicole slide into the back seat and Stanley get in beside her. The driver closed the door and walked around the car in the pouring rain and got into the driver's side. Tiffany watched as the long limo made it's way into the traffic on MacDougal Street. Tiffany walked back to her desk exhausted from the events of the morning. She just couldn't believe the conversation she had overheard. If what she heard was correct then Clark's wish for Nicole to be pregnant had come true. Clark would never know his dreams had been dashed and Stanley would probably pay dearly for his indiscretion. The phone on Tiffany's desk rang interrupting her thoughts. "Manhattan Party Planning," Tiffany answered. "Hi, how's it going there?" Clark asked. "Oh fine. Just fine," Tiffany lied trying not to let any of the strain into her voice. "Is Nicole home?" "No. uh... she said she went on a sales call," Tiffany said struggling to remember what Nicole had instructed her to say if her husband called. "A sales call?" "Yeah. That's what she said." "Oh that sweet little wife of mine. I can't believe she's trying to learn how to do sales all by herself." "Yeah, well that's what she said." "How sweet. She's never really worked. She's so young. She doesn't even know how to answer a business telephone call and here she is out on a sales call to try and help out." "Yeah, that's really brave of her," Tiffany said glancing out the window to see if the limo with Stanley and Nicole had left. "When did she leave?" "You just missed her." "But it's pouring rain. She shouldn't be out in the rain." "Yeah it is raining. How did you know?" "I'm back. I'll be home in a minute," Clark said as the cabdriver made his way through the traffic at Newark Liberty International Airport. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
