Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday October 22nd 2002
Tiffany stood at the base of the stairway listening to the conversation upstairs between her bosses' new bride Nicole and her sister's older lover Stanley Morgan.  Tiffany wondered if there was any chance that her boss Clark would ever catch his new bride cheating with Stanley.  She knew she shouldn't wish such an event since that would mean her sister Starlene would find out that her wealthy lover had once again renewed his relationship with Nicole.
"Nicole, I don't understand. Can't you be patient? I'll find another apartment for you," Stanley said as Tiffany strained to hear the conversation.
"I loved that apartment.  I was counting on you," Nicole said not bothering to hold her voice or her temper in control.
"I told you Starlene found the lease.  It wouldn't have worked out. New York is full of apartments. I'll find another one"
"No.  Just forget it Stanley."
"What's the matter with you? Have you been seeing someone else?" he asked referring to the statement Tiffany made that Greg the next door neighbor had been with Nicole this morning.
"Me?  What are you accusing me of?"
"Did you just get out of bed with another guy... the neighbor?"
"So Tiffany's been running her big mouth again, huh," Nicole screamed.
Tiffany backed away from the stairs as her face reddened.
"Well, what if Clark had come home and asked where you were?  I only asked Tiffany if you were here."
"She just couldn't wait to tell you.  Maybe she'll tell that little girlfriend of yours too," Nicole said.
"Let's leave Starlene out of this Nicole."
"You said Starlene saw the lease. Why did you leave it out in the open so she could see it Stanley?  You're getting sloppy."
"Come on honey. We don't need to fight."
"Sloppy.  How could you be so careless?  What did you tell her when she saw it?"
"She thinks I got the apartment so she and I can move in after we're married."
"Oh!  So I don't get the fancy apartment overlooking Fifth Avenue, she does."
"No. I told the real estate agent I might let it go."
"You don't understand Stanley.  I was counting on that place."
"We can always go to the Plaza or the Waldorf until I find another place Nicki."
"No.  I'm finished with you Stanley Morgan."
"Come on Nicki.  All the good times we've had," Stanley said walking towards her.
"I'm serious."
"I can't believe you'd be this angry."
"You just don't know the pressure I'm under here."
"What's the matter?"
"I'm married to Clark, then there was the big mess up with us," she said her voice much softer.
"I'm sorry honey.  We took care of that.  Clark will never know."
"Yeah. But I went through it and you spent your time with Starlene never missing a beat while I was sick."
"You feel okay now don't you?"
"Yeah, but why would I want to continue to see you after all of this?"
"Because you care about me and the good times we've had."
"I moved to New York and went to work for you.  As soon as my father found out we were involved you had me transferred over here to work for Clark."
"Your Father threatened to have one of his mob guys take care of me Nicole.  And besides I paid your salary until the day you got engaged to Clark.  How can you complain?  You even married Clark," Stanley said his voice full of exasperation.
"It's not that great when he wants a family so bad and I have to keep this secret from him.  When he calls me all of the time from Florida asking if I'm pregnant, I have had to lie to him about what happened. I had to plead with my Father to book some parties there to get rid of Clark so we could have this mess taken care of without Clark knowing."
"How do you know this is all my fault?  You were just up here with the guy next door," Stanley said.
"I just met him.  Besides I know. You've got your nerve!  You have Starlene and you're moving her into the apartment I picked out on Fifth Avenue.  That's enough Stanley. I'll just let Daddy take care of all of this," she said starting towards the stairs to go down.
