Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday October 17th 2002
Tiffany sat at her desk looking through the appointments for parties scheduled over the holidays.  She wondered if her boss Clark was planning to continue working in Florida with his mob boss father-in- law or come back to NYC.   Her thoughts were interrupted when the next door neighbor opened the front door.
"Hi Tiffany," the young handsome neighbor said closing the door behind him and walking into the living room.
"Hi Greg," Tiffany said watching him walk towards her desk.
"Is Nicki here?"
"She's upstairs.  Want me to call her?"
"Is her husband back from his trip to Florida?
"No Clark's still there."
"Then I think I'll go up and surprise her," he said.
"Oh," Tiffany said as he turned and walked towards the stairs.
Tiffany watched as he climbed the stairs. Just before leaving her sight he stopped and winked at her as if she were in on a secret.  She wondered what would happen if Clark came home early from his trip and caught his new bride with the young neighbor. She wondered too if Stanley knew that Nicole's new friend was a lot friendlier than he knew.  Stanley had taken Nicole out to find an apartment the other day thinking it was for a friend.  She thought Stanley surely didn't know it was for a young neighbor that was another one of Nicole's secret lovers. Tiffany felt pangs of guilt when she thought about her young sister Starlene coming home excited last night after being at her lover Stanley's mansion. Starlene had found a receipt for a down payment on an apartment and thought Stanley was going to surprise her with a place for them to live after their wedding.  Stanley couldn't seem to commit to a date for a wedding but instead kept distracting her younger sister with gifts and trips.
"Greg!" Tiffany overheard Nicole say from upstairs. Tiffany heard the sounds of Nicole's footsteps going to meet the young man. She then heard Greg walking into the bedroom. She thought about going to the stairs to listen when the phone on her desk rang.
"Manhattan Party Planning," she answered.
"Hi Tiffany," Stanley said as he sat in his office in the Empire State Building.
"Hi Stanley."
"How have you been lately?" Stanley asked as Tiffany heard the bedroom door close upstairs.
"Oh good.  I guess considering."
"Good. Good," he said not listening to her answer.
"Clark's not back from Florida yet Stanley," she said.
"Oh …yeah.  Yeah. I know. Look is Nicole around?"
"I can buzz her office if you want."
"So she is in today?"
"Yeah, she's upstairs."
"Please buzz her for me. Thank you Tiffany."
Tiffany hit the buzzer on the intercom as she heard something that sounded like a shoe hitting the floor upstairs. 
"What is it Tiffany?" Nicole said into the intercom as she watched Greg take off his shirt.
"It's Stanley on the line for you," Tiffany said.
"Oh Good," Nicole said hitting the button. 
Tiffany knew it was wrong but she listened on the line as Nicole picked up the phone.
"Stanley. Can you bring me the lease for the apartment today?"
"We need to talk about it Nicki honey," Stanley said.
"I thought you said you paid the down payment and it was settled."
"I did.  But I called and canceled the deal this morning."
"What?" Nicole said pushing Greg away as he tried to unbutton her blouse.
"Starlene saw the papers the other night. She would have been snooping around all the time," Stanley said regarding his loss of a secret place to take Nicole.
"But I needed that place. You know Clark will be coming back soon," she said regretting her recent wedding.
"Maybe I can find another place."
"Oh forget it Stanley.  I was counting on you," Nicole said angrily.
"No honey.  No.  I'll think of something. It just wouldn't have worked with Starlene knowing where the apartment is. We have time."
"Maybe you do.  You aren't married. I am," Nicole said as Greg took a seat beside her on the bed.
