"As we graze it grows"

4 cups eggs
1 lemon (rind and juice)
1/2 cup shortening
1 orange (rind and juice)
1 teaspoon soda
3 teaspoons baking powder
5 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cloves

Boil and Cool:
1 cup strong, black coffee
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup honey
1 cup chopped nuts

Beat the eggs well, add the melted shortening or oil allowing it to cool first.  Add the fruit and rind plus the juices.  Sift dry ingredients, add alternatively with the coffee honey mixture.  Bake in a loaf pan (9 x 12 inches) at 350 degrees for 1 1/4 hours.
