Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday September 4th 2002
"I know I heard Nicole's voice," Tiffany said slamming the receiver to the phone down after calling her estranged husband Skeeter's apartment on Bleecker Street.
"But, she just got back from her honeymoon with Clark!" Starlene said as the two sisters stared at each other in amazement.
"I heard a woman's voice there with Skeeter. I swear to you Starlene, it sounded like Nicole. And I know I heard the woman say Clark's name."
"What did Skeeter say when you asked him about it?"
"That it was the TV," Tiffany said raising her eyebrows in disbelief.
"Hum," Starlene said watching Tiffany's face.
"I can't believe it," Tiffany said jumping up from the sofa and starting to pace across the living room floor.
"Calm down. You can't be sure what you heard," Starlene said.
"What should I do?"
"Well, I don't know Tiffany. It would be nice to catch Nicole cheating wouldn't it?"
"Yeah, that would kill Clark though," Tiffany said thinking about the fact that her boss Clark had just come back from his honeymoon in Italy with his new bride Nicole.
"He's the one that's planning to fire you for seeing Amir, Tiffany."
"You're right," Tiffany said.
"So what can you do?"
"Maybe I should go over to Skeeter's apartment and see if she's there," Tiffany said her eyes widening as she thought of the possibility of catching Nicole with her estranged husband.
"Do you have a key to Skeeter's apartment?"
"No. But I can wait outside and see if she comes out," Tiffany said.
"What would you do if she does come out?"
"I don't know."
"Then there's no point in going over there."
"Well, I could at least tell Skeeter that I know he's lying."
"Then you're doing the same kind of things he does."
"Oh this just makes me too angry. Clark's going to fire me for seeing Amir and his wife Nicole is in the apartment with my husband. And only a few days after their honeymoon," Tiffany said picking up her sandals from the floor and starting to put them on.
"What are you doing Tiffany?"
"I'm going over there."
"No. Look I'll go over there for you. I'd like to catch her myself. A little payback for cheating with my Stanley," Starlene said thinking about the time she caught Nicole with her lover Stanley on the sofa in his office.
"Would you Starlene?"
"Sure. I'd love to catch her," Starlene said jumping up from the sofa and starting towards the bedroom to get dressed.
"You better hurry!" Tiffany said following her young sister down the hallway.
"I'll just throw on these jeans and go," Starlene said picking up her jeans from the chair in her bedroom and stepping into them.
"I'm going with you," Tiffany said.
"No. You have to work around Nicole, I don't know if you should go."
"Starlene, I'm probably going to get fired anyway. I may as well enjoy catching her and especially catching Skeeter lying after the trouble he's caused me," Tiffany said watching her voluptuous sister struggle with the zipper on her tight jeans.
"Well, let's go," Starlene said struggling as she buttoned her jeans. She yanked her shirt down in the front giving up on the zipper and walked towards the front door to leave.
"Do you think we should get a cab?" Tiffany asked breathless with excitement.
"Why? It's only two blocks. We can walk faster," Starlene said as they walked out of the door and slammed it.
Tiffany hit the button for the elevator as Starlene locked the apartment door with the key.
"This is going to be fun," Starlene said as they stepped onto the elevator.
"I guess I don't have anything left to lose," Tiffany said thinking about the fact she had probably already lost her job and her lover Amir.
"But Nicole does", Starlene said smiling as she stepped into the elevator and hit the button for the lobby.
