Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday August 2nd 2002
Tiffany opened the door to the townhouse where she worked near Washington Square Park.  She closed the door locking it behind her.  She quickly walked to her desk and picked up the phone hitting speed dial.
"Hello," Starlene answered as she sat on her sofa in their apartment overlooking Washington Square Park.
"Did he call?" Tiffany asked referring to her lover Amir.
"No, not yet. Tiffany it only takes you two minutes to walk to work. Did you pick up the newspaper?"
"Yeah.  Let me see," Tiffany said unfolding the tabloid newspaper and quickly turning the pages looking for a headline or picture of her lover Amir or his wife Malena. "I don't see anything in the papers," Tiffany said her fingers black with ink. "Something must have happened this morning and the newspapers don't have it yet."
"Maybe it's nothing," Starlene said.
"Starlene you saw it yourself on TV this morning. The news cameras were at Amir's mansion and they showed a picture of his wife.  Something has happened to her. Oh God, I feel so guilty."
"Oh. Don't feel so bad.  No one will ever know that the two of you were together last night on his yacht.  That's why meeting on the yacht is so cool, no hotel records or anything."
"Oh God. This is horrible. This is exactly why I never wanted to see him like that. I don't want to be his mistress and I sure didn't want to have to worry like this.  How can it be that I only see him once and something happens?"
"Did you call the service to see if he tried to call you at work? I mean you're really late getting in this morning."
"Okay.  I'll call now."
"Call me right back, okay?"
"Okay," Tiffany said hitting the free line of the phone disconnecting from her sister. She quickly hit speed dial to the answering service for the business where she worked.
"Manhattan Party Planning," the woman at the answering service said.
"This is Tiffany. I'm at the office now. Do we have any calls?"
"Let me check Tiffany," the woman said putting Tiffany on hold as easy listening music played on the line. Tiffany picked up the remote to the TV on her desk and hit the button turning on the TV across the room.  She quickly turned to the local news channel and saw the weatherman laughing and talking about the heat wave.
"Yes Tiffany.  Clark called from Florida this morning," the woman said.
"Oh God.  When did he call?"
"He called right after you called me and told me you would be late coming in this morning."
"Great now he knows I'm late getting to work while he's gone to Florida to get married. Did he leave a message?"
"He said he'd call back later.'
"Anything else?"
"Mr. Dalton called about the party he has scheduled for September.  Do you need his number?"
"No.  I have it. Anything else?"
"Yes Amir Hada called."
"He did!  Did he leave a message?"
