Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday July 31st 2002
Starlene poured herself a cup of coffee and placed the coffeepot back on the burner. She turned when she heard her sister walking into the kitchen of their apartment overlooking Washington Square Park.
"Mornin," Tiffany said pulling down her long T-shirt as she rubbed her eyes.
"Good Morning.  You're late getting up. Are you going to work today?"
"I just called the service and told them I'd be a little late coming in today. They'll pick up the calls. Besides Clark's in Florida by now, so it doesn't matter," she said referring to her boss that had left to go to Florida for his wedding.
"Well, tell me. How did it go last night with Amir?" Starlene asked picking up the coffeepot. She poured her sister a cup of coffee and handed it to her.
"Nice," Tiffany said taking a seat on the barstool.
"Nice?  Is that all you're going to say after not seeing your lover for months?"
"It was great, actually. We talked a lot."
"Talked…did you?"
"Well…" Tiffany said blowing to cool her hot coffee before taking a sip.
"Did you make love or not?"
"Starlene!  You're so nosey."
"Come on Tiffany. Tell me everything," Starlene said pulling up a barstool and taking a seat beside her.
"He's not happy at home."
"Daaa," Starlene said smiling.
"Well.  I thought he might be."
"What about his wife?"
"She doesn't remember their marriage. She only remembers her childhood on the island."
"Wow. That's got to be hard."
"Yeah.  She doesn't really like New York or America."
"So what do they do all the time?"
"He said that she spends a lot of time shopping.  She loves clothes and jewelry."
"Gee what a life.  I wouldn't think she would be that unhappy shopping all the time."
"He is though."
"So what is the plan?  What are the two of you going to do?"
"He thinks she'll go back to their island to live."
"Really?  Is that what he hopes for?"
"He said she calls her Mother often and wants to go home."
"Will he be going with her?"
"I hope not."
"So what's the plan? How did the two of you leave it? I know you said you would only see him this once as long as his wife was in the picture."
"Well, we never really made a final plan."
"Because you couldn't resist him?" Starlene asked eyeing her sister knowingly.
"We didn't have much time together.  He had to be back home and I did too.  I have to work today," Tiffany said avoiding the questions as she got up and walked into the living room.
"Well, did you or didn't you?" Starlene asked following Tiffany into the living room.
"Yes we did.  But that's the last time as long as his wife is here," Tiffany said taking a seat on the sofa and turning on the TV with the remote.
"I knew you'd never be able to resist him," Starlene said smiling as she walked towards the sofa.  "Look," Starlene said the smile quickly leaving her face as she pointed to the screen of the television and the morning news. "That looks like a picture of Amir's wife they're showing now," she said as her eyes widened.
Tiffany quickly picked up the remote to turn up the sound on the television.
