Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday July 12th 2002 Tiffany stood at the doorway of the ballroom at the Plaza Hotel. She smiled and nodded dutifully as the guests arrived for her boss Clark's engagement party. She wished many times that her sister Starlene and her lover Stanley hadn't decided at the last minute not to come. The cell phone in her sequined shoulder bag rang. She quickly took the tiny phone from her purse. "Hello," Tiffany said smiling as the mayor's secretary walked past her. "Hi Tiffany," her sister Starlene said as she glanced out of the window of their apartment overlooking Washington Square Park. "I wish you were here," Tiffany said. "Yeah, me too. I told Stanley I could go without him, but he wouldn't let me." Starlene said turning to glance at her reflection in the mirror as she admired her low cut red dress. "I know you're disappointed Starlene, but it's for the best. I mean it's Nicole and Clark's party. Nicole's Father will never really forgive Stanley for having an affair with Nicole," Tiffany said. "I know," Starlene said starting to feel angry all over again at her older lover for his transgressions of the past. "Besides if Megollo comes you're better off not being around him. I think this guy's really got it bad for you," Tiffany said referring to Nicole's father's business associate that had fallen for her sister. "I believe what the newspapers say about Nicole's family too. I see her Father across the room with Nicole and Clark now. I'm telling you Starlene, her Father looks like a crime boss." "I know. It's best I don't come. I just had this new dress and I wanted to be interviewed on TV." "So what are you doing?" Tiffany asked smiling as she watched a famous columnist walk past her. "Stanley's taking me out to dinner. Is Amir there with his wife yet?" "No, not yet. I dread it Starlene. I knew one day I'd meet her...but I just wish it didn't have to be here like this." "But Amir told you on the phone that his wife was still having problems right?" "Yeah, he said she hadn't fully recovered from the coma. I don't know what that means. He had to hang up before we could talk more," Tiffany said glancing down the hallway as more guests were arriving. "I know Amir really loves you. He's just stuck with this wife of his," Starlene said confidently. "Oh God…" Tiffany said as her heart raced. "What?" "I have to go. I see Amir and his wife coming in now," Tiffany said swallowing hard. "Good luck Tiffany. I'll call you later," Starlene said hanging up the phone. Tiffany watched as Amir and his wife Malena walked towards the entrance to the ballroom. Amir was smiling at Malena as the dark haired beauty held his arm. Tiffany glanced at Malena's hand and saw the large diamond and the wedding band. When she looked up her eyes met Amir's. She thought she saw a flash of understanding in his dark eyes before she quickly looked away. When she glanced his way again, he and Malena were almost beside her in the doorway of the ballroom. Tiffany's lips trembled as she managed to nod her head at Amir and Malena as they stopped in front of her. "Hello," Tiffany managed to say never daring to look into Amir's eyes. "Tiffany, this is my wife Malena..." Amir said in his broken English as the beautiful dark haired woman extended her hand towards Tiffany. "My pleasure," Tiffany lied smiling as she noticed Amir's wife looking at her blonde hair. "Tiffany work for Manhattan Party Planning," Amir said as Tiffany's eyes darted towards him. "I know," Malena said. CONTINUED MONDAY. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
