Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday June 7th 2002
Nicole put down the copy of Brides Magazine when she heard the front door of the townhouse open where she worked near Washington Square Park.
"Nicole.  Is my sister Tiffany here?" Starlene asked walking into the townhouse and closing the door.
"She had to drop some papers by the accountant's office."
"Is Clark here?"
"No. I'm watching the place until he comes back then we're going to  work on the arrangements for our engagement party this afternoon," Nicole said knowing this would annoy Starlene.
"I see. So you still planning to have an engagement party?" Starlene asked walking towards a chair nearby and taking a seat.
"Of course, we're engaged."
"I guess now would be a good time for the two of us to talk Nicole," Starlene said anxious to discuss the telephone conversation she overheard between Nicole and her lover Stanley.
"If it's about Stanley paying for the party.  Then that was his idea," Nicole said referring to the engagement party that Stanley had said he would pay for when they were caught together today having lunch at  the Plaza Hotel.
"And it was Stanley's idea to go to the Plaza with you for lunch, huh?" Starlene asked as her eyes narrowed.
"Yes it was as a matter of fact."
"Look Nicole.  I overheard you and Stanley on the phone.  I know."
"Know what?"
"I know you're still seeing him."
"He was my former boss.  We do all work together Starlene."
"Look Nicole. I'm not a fool.  I overheard the conversation between you and my Stanley. I know you met him at the Plaza.  I think you went up to a room with him too."
"That's not true. I'm sure Stanley told you we met for lunch."
"Of course that's what he told me. I also heard him on the phone telling you to deny, deny, deny."
"What can I say? You're going to believe whatever you want to. It's not my problem if you can't keep your man."
"I don't think I'd have any problems with my man if you weren't in the picture."
"Well, I am.  I'm marrying Clark and you have to get used to it."
"You don't love Clark either."
"What gives you the right to come in here and talk to me this way?"
"What gave you the right to meet my Stanley at the Plaza Hotel?"
"Look Starlene it was Stanley's idea.  If your lover wants to buy me lunch why not?"
"What if I meet your lover Clark for lunch at the Plaza?  How would you feel?
"Clark would never do that."
"If I went upstairs to a room with him then maybe he would."
"Clark and I have a good relationship.  I can trust him."
"Not if a woman comes along and takes him upstairs…he'd stray."
"Never."
"You don't know that."
"Yes I do."
"Maybe I'll prove you wrong."
"You would never do that."
"No but I could arrange it.  You better leave my Stanley alone or…"
"What Starlene? What are you going to do?"
"Maybe I'll tell Clark about one of your other men you've been seeing?" Starlene said smiling viciously.
