The Tribeca Film Festival...Robert De Niro built it and they came! The stars and celebrities came out and so did thousands of New Yorkers. City Hall was the site of the inaugural affair. In the following days Lower Manhattan was filled with red carpet events, movie premieres, panels, street festivals and a live MTV concert at Battery Park. We'll show you a "few" of the pictures today and more in the days to come.
Top right picture you see Robert De Niro. Robert De Niro lives in Tribeca and owns several businesses there including Tribeca Productions and the Tribeca Film Center.
Center right picture was taken during the MTV concert in Battery Park where Counting Crows and Sheryl Crow were part of the celebrity line up for the evening.
Bottom right picture was taken at City Hall. You see Mayor Bloomberg, Nelson Mandela, Robert De Niro, Hugh Grant and Whoopi Goldberg on stage. Hugh Grant's new movie "About A Boy" was the first premiere of the film festival. Click here for the next page on today's photo tour.
