Tiffany looked up from her desk at work when she heard the front door of the townhouse open.
"Hi Stanley," she said surprised to see her sister's lover dropping by unexpectedly.
"Hi Tiffany. How are you feeling?" Stanley asked closing the door and walking towards her desk.
"Okay. And you?"
"Great.  Is Clark here?"
"No he went to Connecticut," Tiffany said wondering if Stanley had come by to see Nicole secretly.
"Is Nicole here?"
"No.  She went with him."
"Then we're alone?"
"Yes."
"Good I wanted to talk to you."
"If it's about this friend of yours that Starlene wants to fix me up with…I don't want to do that," Tiffany said.
"Well, I haven't talked to him yet."
"Oh," Tiffany said feeling her face turning red.
"It's about me stopping by the other day."
"You mean when Clark was gone?"
"Yeah."
"What about it Stanley?"
"Did Nicole say anything about it?"
"Do you want me to tell you the truth?"
"Of course I do."
"She did."
"Well….  What did she say?"
"She said that she thought you were in love with her," Tiffany said remembering the sounds of the bed upstairs banging against the wall while Stanley was upstairs alone with Nicole.
"Tiffany you know that isn't true.  You know I'm in love with your sister, don't you?"
"Stanley. You told me not to say a word about that day. You told me that nothing happened while you were upstairs with her."
"You believe me don't you?"
"I'm trying for the sake of my sister."
"You didn't say anything to Starlene about it did you?"
"No.  And that's been hard too.  I feel like I'm hiding something from her.  She'd be very hurt if she knew that you and Nicole…"
"I told you nothing happened."
"Yeah.  Right."
"It didn't."
"What's the matter Stanley. Why do you care what I think."
"Nicole's Father called me and wanted to be sure I hadn't been with her again."
"Oh.  I see.  No.  I promise I didn't say anything. Was he angry?"
"Yes.  He acted like he knew that I had been alone with her here while Clark was out."
"No. I didn't say anything.  I promise you that."
"Okay.  Well, maybe he was just testing me. That man's got a bad reputation."
"So does his daughter," Tiffany said looking down at the papers on her desk.
"She's not really a bad girl."
"That's what all the men say."
"Clark seems to really love her."
"He's not the only one."
"Why? Who else has she been seeing?"
"Probably Skeeter."
"That explains everything," Stanley said starting to pace the floor in front of her desk.
"You mean you think that she told Skeeter that you were here alone with her while Clark was gone and that the two of you..." Tiffany said looking down.
"She did bail Skeeter out of jail.   She said they had..." He stopped pacing and watched the shock on Tiffany's face. "Maybe she told Skeeter that I had stopped by here while Clark was out. Maybe the two of them are talking to each other," he said not wanting to tell her that Nicole had bragged to him about her evenings at Skeeter's apartment.
