Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday May 9th 2002 "Starlene are you home?" Tiffany called out slamming the front door of their apartment overlooking Washington Square Park. "In here," Starlene called out reaching for the remote to the television and turning down the sound. "What a day," Tiffany said throwing her purse on the sofa and taking a seat beside her sister on the sofa in the living room. "You look beat," Starlene said. "I am. You'll never guess what happened this morning." "Skeeter came by with the divorce papers," Starlene said. "No. I hope that will happen soon though." "What then?" "I got to work early and I thought I was alone when Clark came in from his breakfast meeting." "Yeah," Starlene said pulling down her T-shirt before curling her legs up under her on the sofa. "Guess who walked down the stairs with almost nothing on," Tiffany said. "No!" "Yeap," Tiffany said shaking her head in disgust. "Oh Lord Tiffany. You mean she spent the night with him." "Oh yeah. He expects for this not to bother me either." "Oh God. This is too much," Starlene said as her cell phone rang on the coffee table in front of them. She reached for the phone still shaking her head in surprise over Tiffany's news. "Hello" she answered. "Starlene," Stanley said. "Hi Stan. I'm glad you called. I hope you're going to take me to dinner tonight. There's nothing in this apartment to eat," Starlene said. "No. I have to go to a meeting. Is everything okay with you?" he asked. "Yeah. I'm fine. Tiffany just came in and I was listening to her story. You won't believe this Stanley. Nicole spent the night at Clark's townhouse last night." "I heard." "You heard?" "Yeah. Jan called me and told me all about it." "How would Jan know?" "Seems that Nicole called Jan to tell her the big news." "Really?" "Yeah. Jan called me a few minutes ago and told me all about it." "Well, it's just a sleep over. It's not exactly world news," Starlene said surprised that everyone was making this much of Nicole staying at Clark's house. "I think it's a lot more than that. Jan was very excited." "Why would Jan care?" "Because it looks like I've gotten rid of any problems I might have had with Nicole's Father over Nicole," Stanley said. "Really?" "Yeah. Nicole called Jan and told her that she and Clark are getting married. "Get out of here!" Starlene said. "Yes. He asked her during dinner." "And Nicole said yes?" Starlene asked as Tiffany turned to stare at her sister. "Yes. They're getting married. I guess this means that Nicole's Father won't be concerned about her being around me anymore." "This is great news…hold on," Starlene said putting her hand over the phone and looking towards Tiffany. "Clark asked Nicole to marry him and she accepted," Starlene said hitting her knee with her spare hand. "Oh God," Tiffany moaned thinking about the friction this would cause in the office. "I guess Tiffany isn't too happy about it, huh," Stanley said. "No. But I am Stanley. Now this means we can get married," Starlene said as she heard her older lover swallow loudly.
