Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday April 5th 2002 "Tiffany aren't you going to work today?" Starlene asked rubbing her eyes trying to wake up as she walked into the living room of their apartment overlooking Washington Square Park. "No," Tiffany said pulling down the bottom of her nightshirt. "Why?" "I didn't sleep last night. I just called in sick." "I'm sorry did Stanley and I keep you awake?" she asked referring to her older lover that had spent most of the evening in her bedroom. "No." "What's the matter Tiffany?" Starlene asked as she watched Tiffany wipe tears from her eyes. "I can't take it anymore Starlene," Tiffany said as fresh tears rolled down her cheeks. "It's Amir isn't it?" "Of course I'm upset with Amir. I can't believe I've been dumped again as soon as his wife comes out of her coma. Then there's Skeeter with Nicole. I just feel so walked on." "I'm sorry Tiffany. Do you want me to see if Stanley has any friends that he could fix you up with?" "No! Are you serious? I hate men." The phone rang on the table next to the sofa where Tiffany was seated. "Do you want me to get that?" Starlene asked. "No. It's probably Clark calling from the office. I better get it," she said reaching for the phone as she wiped the tears from her cheeks. "Hello," she answered. "Tiffany, I call your office. Clark tell me you are sick," Amir said in his broken English. "Amir! I'm shocked to hear from you." "You are sick, no?" "No. I just didn't get much sleep," she said her voice low and drained. "How are you?" "How do you think I'm doing Amir? I'm upset. Just when we were so close, your wife comes out of the coma and you dump me... Again," she added as her voice cracked in pain. "I never… how you say…dump you." "That's what they call it in this country when a man gets rid of his girlfriend suddenly." "I never know that Malena get well again." "Well how is she?" "Better than I expect…but not the same woman I marry many years ago." "Sorry to hear she's having a bad day." "I know you're angry. I apologize for this." "Well how did you think I'd feel Amir? Tell me what you thought would happen?" "I am surprised as you. I never know she wake up until I tell you this. I never think she recover." "So has she recovered? Does she remember you?" "Yes she remember me. Only some thing she remember. Many thing she forget." "I guess you are happy." "No I miss you." "So what do you want me to do about that?" "I need to talk to you." "You are talking to me Amir." "I need to see you." "I don't know." "We have no time to talk of this before she come. I need to see you." "You mean today?" "Yes, my love." CONTINUED MONDAY.
