Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday March 29th 2002
"I'll get the phone Tiffany," Skeeter said jumping up from the futon and walking across the apartment to grab the ringing telephone.
Tiffany smiled through clenched teeth as she moved aside for her estranged husband to answer the phone on the table next to her.
"Hello," Skeeter said into the phone.
"Skeeter I've got tickets to the new club on Sullivan Street.  You want to go?" Nicole asked.
"I have to call you back later."
"What's going on?" Nicole asked.  She had overheard Tiffany talking to Skeeter on the phone at work and wondered if Tiffany had gone by his apartment.
"I'm busy right now. My old lady came by and we're talking over the divorce."
"Oh. Wow!  Want me to come by later?"
"I'll have to call you."
"Yes his wife is here now," Tiffany called out.
"She's really angry isn't she?"
"I'll call you later," he said hanging up the phone.
"Why didn't you talk to her Skeeter. I saw the caller ID. I overheard the conversation you had with her today on the phone too. I
know Skeeter.  You're already caught!" Tiffany said walking towards the futon and taking a seat.
"Okay, so it was Nicole.  She's young Tiffany.  I can't help it if she's chasing me."
"She's chasing every man in New York Skeeter.  She's been with Starlene's boyfriend Stanley too."
"I'm not married to her Tiffany."
"I know Skeeter…we're still married."
"Not for long…I hope," he muttered under his breath.
"Why so you can marry her? Is that what you really want Skeeter?"
"Tiffany this thing with you and me has gone on long enough.  We may as well get a divorce."
"Skeeter if you marry her then you're a bigger fool than I ever imagined."
"You're just jealous because she's younger than you are."
"No Skeeter that's not it.  That's not it at all. I shouldn't even do you the favor to tell you."
"What?  What kind of favor could you possibly do for me Tiffany?"
"Maybe to tell you that young little Nicole is chasing my boss too."
"Clark?"
"Yes Clark."
"He's gay."
"I don't think so Skeeter.  I saw them on the sofa together.  She works upstairs in his office."
"I don't believe you."
"Suit yourself.  If you want to marry her then that's probably what you deserve.  Both of you are the worst people I've ever known in my life," she said getting up from the futon and grabbing her jacket.
"What about the divorce Tiffany.  I want to have the lawyer send you the papers.  We have to agree on what to do with our mobile home in Georgia."
"You can have it,  just move it off of my property."
"It was moved three years ago Tiffany."
"Where did you move it?" she asked shocked turning to look at him as she stood near the front door.
"I moved it when I sold the property."
"You sold
my property?"
"Your Father deeded it to me. You weren't there.  You had left me," he said defensively.
The phone on the table near the window started to ring.
"You better get that Skeeter. It might be Jan this time."
Skeeter started to walk towards the ringing phone worried that the answering machine would pick it up and Tiffany would hear one of his girlfriend's voices on the machine. "What about the divorce?" he asked walking quickly towards the machine.
"I'll consider it Skeeter.  When I have time," Tiffany said.
"I'm not in. Leave a message," Skeeter's recorded voice on the machine said followed by a beep. Tiffany held the front door open and watched as Skeeter ran to pickup the phone hoping Tiffany wouldn't hear the caller leaving a message.
