"Would you like another drink" the waiter asked Amir as he sat beside Tiffany in the small restaurant in Little Italy.
"Yes bring more drink," Amir said in his broken English as the waiter quickly walked away leaving the two lovers alone.
"You are beautiful my love," Amir said noticing the new dress she was wearing.
"Thanks. When you called and said you wanted to talk it sounded very important," she said hoping he would want to discuss their future and making the relationship more permanent.
"Yes.  You are very patient," he said taking her hand into his.
"I've tried to be."
"I hope you grant me once more… some time."
"Time?  What do you mean?"
"Something that I never expect happen."
"What?"
"Malena…" he said looking down at the large diamond ring he had given Tiffany.
"Oh Amir.  Is she worse?" Tiffany asked trying to sound concerned for his comatose wife.
"No.  Not sick, well," Amir said looking up to watch her reaction to his news.
"You mean she is out of the coma?"
"Yes."
"But she came out once before and it didn't last long."
"Doctors at hospital say this very encouraging news."
"You mean that she might be out of the coma for good?"
"This they hope."
"Well, that's wonderful," Tiffany said trying to smile.
"There is more of this news."
"More.  What?"
"She come here to America."
"Oh.  I see…." Tiffany said batting her eyelashes to fight back the tears.
"I never think this happen."
"But the last time she was upset when she saw the picture of the two of us in the newspaper."
"Yes.  Her Mother Tiso cause most of this problem."
"Then it won't be a problem now?"
"Tiso agree that the best for her daughter that she be with me."
"You mean Malena is coming back to be…to be with you?"
"Yes," he said trying to clutch her hand as she quickly withdrew it.
"So now that your wife is awake, I've been dumped?"
"What can I do for this?"
"Amir how can you do this to me?"
"I never know this happen my love."
"Why don't you tell her that you have found someone else?"
"After what she go through all these years."
"What?  What do you think about me? What about the years I've waited for you?  What about us?"
"Would you like to order now sir?" the waiter asked handing Amir a menu.
"Yes," Amir said taking the menu.
"No. I'm not ready," Tiffany said holding up her hand to the waiter to let him know she didn't want a menu.
