"Morning Tiffany," Clark said watching Tiffany walk into his townhouse where they worked.
"Mornin'," she said never smiling but taking off her coat and hanging it on the rack beside the door.
She turned to see him walking towards the kitchen.
"I'll make the coffee," she said walking into the kitchen behind him.
"Thanks Tiffany.  Did you finish the billing yesterday?"
"Yeah.  It took me all day. I guess next month Nicole can help though," she said filling the coffeepot with water.
"She won't be doing that."
"Oh.  What will she be doing then?" she asked careful not to look at him for fear he would see the resentment in her eyes.
"She'll be doing mostly outside work."
"Outside work?  What does that mean?" she asked plugging in the coffeepot and turning to face him.
"Sales.  Getting new clients."
"Sales?  She doesn't have any experience in sales. This is her first job."
"No. I'll be teaching her."
"I thought you told me that one day I would work into that job."
"You never really showed any interest in it Tiffany."
"You never mentioned it again."
"Well I don't think you would have been suited for it."
"Why?"
"It takes a certain kind of person to do sales.  You probably wouldn't like it Tiffany."
"Don't you think you could have asked me first?"
"Do I hear resentment in your voice Tiffany?"
"No,"  she lied. "It's not like that at all.  It's just strange that you never asked me."
"Well, that's the way it happened.  Nicole will be doing outside sales."
"I thought she was going to be helping me with the billing."
"Tiffany we haven't been doing that many parties lately have we?"
"No."
"Without parties there isn't much billing to be done.  Sales is the backbone of the business."
"So she gets the best job."
"Look Tiffany I don't want there to be friction between you two women."
"Of course not."
"Besides she has a lot of business contacts through her Father."
"Have you met him?"
"No.  But I've heard of him.  She said he would send us a lot of business."
"That's just great."
"Yeah."
"Hi!" Nicole said walking into the kitchen taking off her fur jacket.
"Hi Nicole," Clark said.
"I'm going uptown and I'll be back in time for lunch with you today," she said smiling at Clark.
"Good luck," he said.
"Thanks I'm sure Mr. Mendonca will book a party with us. He's been a family friend for years."
"That's great Nicole," Clark said admiring her legs in the short blue leather skirt she was wearing.
"By the way.  Tiffany could you order my business cards today?" Nicole asked.
"Business cards?" Tiffany asked shocked.  She had worked for Clark for three years and never had business cards.
"Yeah. She'll order them.  Which title did you decide on?" Clark asked.
"I think I like Business Manager," she said smiling. "What do you think Tiffany?"
