1 pint (1 pound) shucked oysters, with their juices
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground or freshly grated nutmeg
6 strips bacon, cooked until crisp, then crumbled
1 cup shredded Swiss Cheese
1 cup whipping cream
1/2 cup coarsely crushed saltine crackers
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease a 1 1/2 quart shallow baking dish. Arrange oysters in the dish evenly, pour their juices over them. Sprinkle salt, pepper, and nutmeg evenly over oysters. Scatter crumbled bacon over oysters; then top with cheese. Pour cream evenly over all; then cover evenly with cracker crumbs and dot with butter. Bake oysters, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
