Daily Photos for 02/04/2002 : Gracie Mansion, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Carl Schurz Park
Top right picture you see the entrance to Gracie Mansion. The first house on the banks of the East River dated back to 1770 but was damaged by fire in 1776. In 1798 the house was rebuilt by Archibald Gracie. The Gracie's used the house to entertain such public figures as John Quincy Adams and Washington Irving. The new Mayor recently used the mansion to give his Mother a big birthday bash.
Center right picture was taken on the lawn of Gracie Mansion. In the distance you can see the Harlem River and the Triboro Bridge.
Bottom right picture you see the promenade at Carl Schurz Park. Carl Schurz Park is open to the public and offers a great place for jogging, skating or just relaxing on a nice day. Click here for the next page on today's photo tour.
