Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday January 28th 2002 Starlene watched as Stanley's receptionist buttoned the top button on her wool coat as she prepared to leave the office in the Empire State Building. "I better call him Starlene," the receptionist said worried. "Come on honey. Just go home. I'll tell him you were already gone when I walked into the lobby," Starlene said in her thick southern accent. "I don't know," the receptionist hesitated worried that she'd lose her job if Starlene walked in on Stanley especially since the new secretary Nicole had just gone into Stanley's office. "This is our big chance. You know she's a tramp," Starlene whispered glancing nervously towards the closed door to Stanley's office. "You promise you'll say I was already gone?" the receptionist asked. "Promise. I wouldn't want to get you in trouble. You're the one that gave me Nicole's boyfriend's number in Florida. You are my only hope of getting rid of her," Starlene said pleadingly. "Okay. Just promise me," the receptionist said. She thought again about the fact that Stanley was paying Nicole almost twice as much as her after three years. This was Nicole's first job. "Look she doesn't do anything around here does she?" Starlene asked glancing at the work piled up on the receptionist's desk. "No. She can't even type," the receptionist said picking up her purse from the floor. "Then go home. You aren't supposed to be here now it's already after five and Stanley will never know that you saw me come in," Starlene said. "Okay," the receptionist said walking to the glass door of the lobby and opening it. She quickly hit the elevator button and hoped that Starlene would wait long enough for her to be on the elevator before she confronted Stanley and Nicole. She thought too that perhaps they were just innocently having a drink after work as they often did. Starlene pulled the front of her low cut sweater down and adjusted her cleavage hoping to look irresistible to her older wealthy lover. She quietly walked down the carpeted hallway towards Stanley's office. She tiptoed in her high heels as she came closer to his door. She put her ear towards the door and didn't hear anything. She wondered if perhaps they were reading. She listened again and thought she heard a squeaking sound. "Stan did you hear something?" Nicole asked as their bodies pressed harder and more rapidly into the leather sofa. "No. Nicki Baby…" Stanley said. Starlene pressed her ear closer to the door and held her breath as she listened. "Stan…. Stan…" Nicole moaned. "Now, Baby now…" Stanley moaned as the sofa jarred against the wall in his office. Starlene put her hand on the doorknob and hesitated for one second before quickly throwing the door open and allowing it to hit the wall of Stanley's office. "Starlene!" Stanley said jumping up as he pulled his clothes around him. "Stanley how could you?" Starlene asked as tears started to roll down her cheeks. "It's not what it looks like honey," Stanley said nervously standing up pulling at his shirt. "Starlene were you born in a barn? At least close the door," Nicole said slowly sitting up as she casually reached for her leather skirt on the floor. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
