Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday January 23rd 2002 Skeeter walked to the window and watched as Nicole got into the back of a taxi and the car sped out into the traffic on Bleecker Street. He took a long sip of his Bourbon and walked back towards the living room. He took a seat on the futon where he and Nicole had been intimately involved when his secret lover Jan had come to the door. He looked down at the floor and saw one of Nicole's earrings beside the coffee table. He bent over and picked up the expensive earring and put it on his coffee table. He took another sip of his watered down Bourbon realizing that his plans for a passionate encounter were ruined for this day. The phone on the table next to the futon rang. "Hello," he answered putting his glass of Bourbon on the table. "Skeeter, Bob called the office and asked if you were coming back in this afternoon," the secretary at the lingerie company said. "He did?" Skeeter asked surprised that the secretary would call him at his apartment and even more surprised that Bob Alexander had called since he was in Paris at a lingerie show. "Yeah. He sounded kind of upset." "Damn. Did you tell him where I was?" "He already knew you were at your apartment." "How would Bob know I was at home today? You didn't tell him did you?" "No of course not Skeeter," the young girl said feeling tears coming to her eyes that the handsome salesman would suspect of her of telling the boss he was taking the afternoon off. "I'm sorry Baby. I knew you wouldn't rat on me like that," Skeeter said lowering his voice to sound seductive. "Good. I'd never do anything to upset you Skeeter. I hope you know that," she said in a whisper watching as one of the salesmen walked past her desk. "Did anybody else call the office while I was out today?" "Let's see", she said picking up a stack of pink 'While You Were Out,' messages and reading them out loud. "Miss Hollins from West 4th Street "Pussycat Shop" called," she said smiling at the name of the risqué store. "I'll call her later," Skeeter said. "Anybody else," he asked nervously. "Janet from "Chains and Charm" in the East Village," she said wondering what kind of lingerie he could show these stores since their company only sold fine designer lingerie. "I'll stop by there later," Skeeter said remembering the hot looking sales manager he'd spent a day with last year. "Skeeter how do you get all of the fun clients?" "I work hard. Anybody else call?" "Jan Morgan, but she didn't leave a message." "That was much earlier right?" "Yeah." "I'll call her later," Skeeter said. "I don't know if it's important or not Skeeter but…" she hesitated. "What Baby?" "Jan asked for Bob's number in Paris when I told her you weren't in." "She did?" "Yeah. I didn't want to give it to her but she said she'd call the office manager if I didn't," the secretary said worried that she'd gotten him in trouble. "Damn," Skeeter muttered. "Do you think she called Bob in Paris and told him that you weren't in the office?" "Yeah maybe." "As long as you know I'll always cover for you Skeeter." "You're the best Baby. I know I can count on you. It's almost five o'clock, so I guess Bob won't call again." "No, I don't think so either. One more thing…" She said sensing he was getting ready to hang up the phone. "What's that?" "The new line of lingerie came in this afternoon," she said. "You going to model some of it for me Baby?" CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
