Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday January 22nd 2002 "Nicole you shouldn't have done that," Skeeter said, as the door to his apartment slammed shut. "Why, are you in love with that woman?" Nicole said bending forward to take a sip of her watered down drink that was on the coffee table in front of her. "No," he said walking to the window to look down on the sidewalk as Jan came out of his apartment building. He watched her walk towards the curb and put out her hand for a taxi, waving frantically as several passed her by. "Go after her if you want," Nicole said watching him at the window. "She's furious Nicole," Skeeter said watching as a cab pulled over to the curb and Jan got inside never looking back towards his building. "Are you having an affair with her?" Nicole asked taking a sip of her Bourbon and coughing slightly from the strong unfamiliar drink. "I've been seeing her, yes," Skeeter admitted. "Damn, I thought you had better taste in women than that," Nicole said. "Look she threw herself on me," Skeeter said in his slow southern accent. "Does your wife know?" "No. I wouldn't tell Tiffany anything like that," he said walking into the kitchen and picking up the bottle of Bourbon from the counter. "So Tiffany doesn't know. Who knows then?" Nicole asked getting up from the futon and walking towards the kitchen. "Nobody knows Nicole," Skeeter said taking the cap off the bottle and filling his glass with the strong drink. "Are you in love with her?" Nicole asked laughing slightly at the possibility that any man might love Jan. "No. I'm not in love. Maybe it's time we talk about who this Vinny is?" Skeeter said referring to Jan's statements that Nicole had a boyfriend from Florida in town and had just been in a hotel with him before coming to his apartment on Bleecker Street. He quickly drank his glass of Bourbon and refilled it before placing the bottle on the table nearby. "My ex-boyfriend from Florida," she lied motioning with her glass for him to refill her drink. "And you were in his hotel room before you came over here today?" Skeeter asked referring to Jan's accusation. He poured Bourbon into her glass studying her face. "Yeah, he stopped by the office of Manhattan Party Planning and surprised me today." "So you went to his hotel room because you were so surprised." "He wanted to talk. Where were we going to talk, on the street?" "It just seems. I don't know…" he hesitated. "Let's just forget it all," he said thinking about how angry Jan was and how much trouble she might give him. "What do you mean?" "Maybe this isn't going to work out with us Nicole." "You're saying you don't want to see me anymore?" "I don't see how this can work out. I mean you've got a boyfriend you never told me about and you work for Jan's Father too." "I think you don't want to see me because you're getting it on with Jan," she said putting her glass on the table and walking quickly back into the living room. He walked into the living room taking a sip of his Bourbon as he watched Nicole grab her fur jacket from the chair and start to put it on. "Maybe I'm wrong Nicole," he said wishing he'd had time to score with her once more before Jan had stopped by. "I think you are wrong Skeeter. More wrong than you realize," she said buttoning her jacket as she walked towards the front door and opened it. "Friends?" he asked walking towards the door managing a smile. "I've never been friends with a man and I don't think you'll be my first," she said walking out into the hallway and towards the stairs. "I'd like to be," Skeeter called out as she raced down the stairs. Nicole stopped on the steps and turned to look up at him as he held onto the railing watching her descend. "Don't call me. I might call you, Skeeter," she said coldly before turning and quickly walking down the stairs. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
