Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday January 17th 2002 Vinny stood in the lobby of the Washington Square Hotel and looked out of the window onto MacDougal Street. He watched as Nicole walked out onto the sidewalk with her cell phone to her ear. He wondered who she had been in such a hurry to call after leaving his hotel room. He watched her smile and close the phone putting it into the pocket of her fur jacket. She walked closer to the curb of MacDougal Street and held out her hand to hail a cab. He felt his heart race. The townhouse where she had been working when he went to get her earlier was right across the street from the hotel. If she were going back to work this afternoon as she said, she wouldn't need to get a cab. He watched closely as the cab stopped at the curb and she got in closing the door. He quickly walked to the door of the hotel and pushed it open running out onto the street watching as the cab raced down MacDougal Street and turned. He looked in both directions and didn't see another cab anywhere in sight. He turned and walked back into the hotel lobby towards the elevator. He would find out if she was cheating on him. The cab pulled over to the curb of Bleecker Street and Nicole handed the driver five dollars and got out of the cab closing the door. She quickly walked to the door of Skeeter's apartment building and rang the buzzer. "Yeah," he answered. "It's me," she said. "Come on in," he said hitting the buzzer and walking towards the door to his apartment to open it. He wondered why she was over two hours late for their lunch date. He should have been working today, but he could never resist a noon lunch date with a ready woman. "Hay Baby," Skeeter said smiling as he watched her dark hair bounce as she rushed up the stairs. "Hi Skeeter," she said walking towards the door of his apartment. He kissed her cheek at the door and she walked inside the apartment taking off her fur jacket. "You're late," he said as he watched her take a seat on his futon sofa. "I'm sorry Skeeter. I got tied up at work," she lied remembering how surprised she was when Vinny came by the townhouse where she worked and insisted that she come to lunch with him at the Washington Square Hotel. He had been so suspicious of her that she spent an hour in his hotel room convincing him that she was in love. The phone rang on the table beside the futon and Skeeter walked over and picked it up. "Hello," he answered. "Skeeter," Jan said. "Hay," he said glancing at Nicole and smiling sweetly. "Skeeter I called your office and they said you hadn't been in all afternoon," Jan said suspiciously. "I've been doin' some paperwork here at the apartment," he lied. "Really. Why didn't you tell me that you were going to be in the village this afternoon?" "I didn't know beforehand," he lied watching Nicole cross her legs as the short skirt rose up on her thighs. "Maybe I'll stop by and we'll have dinner at that new restaurant on Sullivan Street," Jan said. "I don't know if that suits today." "What do you mean?" Jan asked. "I'm just in the middle of putting together my sales projections report. Can I call you back in a few minutes?" he asked as he watched Nicole pick up his Playbody Magazine from the coffee table. "Oh Okay. Well, then maybe I can have Ilona make dinner for us at my house tonight," she suggested. "That sounds great," he said. "Okay. I'll see you around six then," Jan said. "You got it. Thanks for calling," he said hanging up the phone and taking a seat on the futon beside Nicole. "Who was that?" Nicole asked. "Just work. Look at that Nicole," Skeeter said pointing to the centerfold. "You'll look better than she does," he said remembering her excitement about her upcoming modeling job with the magazine. "If I do it," she said. "What do you mean Baby. I thought you were so excited." "We'll see. I might want more money than they can afford," she lied. She regretted saying she would accept the job now knowing how suspicious and jealous Vinny was acting. "And I get to see it all for free," he said running his hand under the back of her sweater and adeptly unclasping the hook. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
