Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday January 16th 2002 "Where ya going?" Vinny asked waking up and seeing Nicole buttoning her blouse. "I'm going back to work Honey," she said bending over the bed and kissing him on the cheek. "I want ya to quit that job Nicki," he said rubbing his eyes and sitting up in the bed of his hotel room in the Washington Square Hotel. "It's my first job Vinny. I don't really want to quit." "You don't need to work." "I know I don't need to but it's good experience. Come on Vinny we just went through all this Honey. You know Daddy was pleased that I was learning," she said. "You can learn from me and your Father. I don't want you answering to this Stanley Morgan or that Amir Hada," he said. Starlene had secretly told him that Nicole was trying to steal Stanley and had her eyes on Amir too. "They're nice men." "I'm nice too and look what I just did," he said picking up his glass of Scotch from the table beside the bed and taking a sip of the watered down drink. "You're jealous Vinny. That's all," she said watching him step into his pants and zip them. "You sure you haven't been lying to me Nicki?" he asked glancing up to see her combing her dark hair. "No Honey. I'm not lying to you. We're engaged. What would I do with another man," she lied. "If I catch you lying it'll be the last time Nicki," he said putting his glass on the table a little too hard. "You can trust me," she said picking up her coat and putting it on. "We'll see," he said tucking in his shirt as he followed her towards the door. Her passion for him today hadn't completely convinced him that Starlene wasn't telling him the truth. "What time is your appointment?" she asked referring to the appointment he told her he had with a contractor in Queens. "Soon, I'll make some calls then go," he lied pretending to be looking at his watch. "I'm glad you're here," she lied as he kissed her cheek goodbye. "Just don't be testing me. You hear Nicki?" he said buttoning the top button on her coat. "You don't have anything to worry about Vinny." "And get my ring from the jeweler too. I wanna see that ring on your hand from now on, you hear?" he said referring to his earlier question concerning the absence of the engagement ring he had given her before she left Florida to move to New York. "I will. I'll call the jeweler today and see if he's cleaned it yet." "Don't get jewelers to clean that ring anymore Nicki. That rocks' worth more than most jewelry stores in New York." "Okay. Okay. I better run." "I'll see you tonight," Vinny said watching her open the door and walk out into the hallway of the Washington Square Hotel. "Yeah. I love you Vinny," she said smiling sweetly. "You too Pussycat," he said as he watched her step onto the elevator and the door closed. She reached into her purse and pulled out her cell phone as the elevator descended. She dialed the now familiar number on Bleecker Street and listened to the phone ring. "Hello," Skeeter answered. "Sorry I'm late," Nicole said. Vinny quickly stepped onto the elevator and hit the button to go down to the lobby. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
