Daily Photos for 01/16/02 : World Trade Center Disaster Ground Zero, Empire State
Thousands of people from all over the world are making the trip to NYC to view ground zero of the World Trade Center disaster. People come to see part of our world's history and to pay respect to those that were lost. The city has built viewing platforms around the site to accommodate the crowds. The tickets are free and you get them at the South Street Seaport Museum. Today's photos are from various locations near ground zero.
Top right picture you see the glass Atrium Building. In case you aren't familiar with the site, the World Trade Twin Towers were right behind the Atrium.
Center right picture you see the skyline of the city as seen from the Brooklyn Bridge. To the right of the photo is the area of South Street Seaport where you pick up the free tickets for the viewing platform.
Bottom right picture you see the lawn at Battery Park City and the Empire State Building. All around the disaster site everything is exactly the same.
