Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday December 24th 2001 "I'll call you later, okay?" Skeeter asked as Nicole put on her blue fur jacket and walked towards the front door of his apartment. "Yeah," she said glancing back towards the futon where Jan sat tapping her long manicured fingernails on the skirt of her designer suit. Jan watched them at the door of Skeeter's apartment on Bleecker Street. Rage had consumed her after standing outside the closed door and listening to their passionate encounter on Skeeter's futon. "I'm sorry," he whispered as Nicole turned to leave. "You should have told me you were seeing her," she said softly. "Skeeter," Jan called out impatiently. "Bye," Nicole said walking towards the stairwell. She turned quickly towards Skeeter's door and saw him standing with the door half-open watching her leave. He winked at Nicole before he pulled the door shut. He took a deep breath before slowly turning and walking back towards the sofa where Jan was sitting watching his every move. "What brings you over here tonight Baby?" he said trying to pretend nothing happened. "I heard it all Skeeter," she said referring to the last ten minutes. She had stood outside in the hallway with her ear to his door listening to the sounds of Nicole and him moaning. The futon sofa had beat into the end table rhythmically to the sounds of their passion. "Want a drink?" he asked hoping she hadn't heard everything as she indicated. "Yes and make it strong." "Wine?" he asked walking towards the kitchen hoping that Nicole hadn't drank the entire bottle earlier. "No. Give me some of your Bourbon," she said watching him walk towards the kitchen wearing only his jeans and no shirt. He opened the refrigerator door and took out ice and put it in two glasses and picked up the bottle of Bourbon from the counter and filled the glasses. He glanced at the clock on top of the refrigerator and realized he was now over an hour late going to Elizabeth Ford's penthouse for their regular weekly rendezvous. He never expected Nicole to stop by in the mood tonight. He wanted the young woman the first time he met her last night at the bar. He didn't know he'd get lucky so quickly and he certainly didn't know Jan would stop by and catch him with her Father's secretary. He took a long sip of his Bourbon then quickly refilled it before picking up both glasses and walking back into the living room. "Here you go Baby," he said his hands shaking as he handed her the glass. He dutifully took his seat on the futon beside her. She took a long sip of the Bourbon and coughed slightly from the sting of the strong unfamiliar drink. "How long has this been going on with you and that little tramp?" Jan asked putting her glass on the coffee table. "I told you Baby, her hot water was turned off in her apartment and she stopped by to take a shower. That's all that happened. I swear to you," he lied wondering just how much she had heard. "I know you are lying to me Skeeter. She's a tramp. I told you I caught her on the sofa with Father the first time he interviewed her." Jan shook her head as she remembered the sight of Nicole on her Father's sofa clearly allowing the older man to have his way before she stopped by his office and interrupted them. "I admit she's a little fast," he said remembering that he had wanted to meet her as soon as Jan had told him about the encounter at her Father's office. "I'll have her fired right away." Jan said picking up her drink and taking a long sip. "Don't you think you're overreacting Baby. I mean she's just young," he said realizing that Jan probably wasn't just threatening. "Is that it? She's so young. Is that why you did this tonight?" she snapped. "No. It's not the way it seems Baby. You're the only one for me," he said running his hand over her leg. "The only one," he said as he caught her eyes on his bare chest. The phone rang on the table beside the sofa. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
