Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday December 21^st 2001
"Open the door Skeeter," Jan demanded as she stood in hallway of his apartment on Bleecker Street.  She watched his eyes dart back and forth over the chain of his partially opened Bleecker Street apartment door.
"Jan. I'll meet you downstairs in just a minute or so," he said starting to feel sweaty all over. He still needed to call Elizabeth and tell her something had come up and he might not be able to make it over to her penthouse for their regular weekly rendezvous.
"Skeeter, did you call your client," Nicole said dropping her damp towel from her freshly showered body and walking towards the living room.
"No, he hasn't had time," Jan called out loudly from the hallway.
"Jan please," Skeeter pleaded.
"Open the door Skeeter," Jan demanded unable to contain her rage any longer.
"Whose there Skeeter?" Nicole said picking up her jeans from the futon and stepping into them quickly as she watched him nervously look from the chain on his front door back to her.
"Open the door.  I won't leave," Jan said hitting the metal door with her fist.
"Skeeter do you have another guest?" Nicole asked picking up her sweater and carrying it as she walked towards him.  "Who is it Skeeter?"
"Tell her Skeeter," Jan snapped beating the door with her fist.
"It's Jan?" Nicole whispered shocked.
"Jan. Nicole stopped by for a few minutes, her hot water was off in her apartment and she wanted to take a shower," Skeeter lied quickly turning towards Nicole and looking at her pleadingly.
Nicole raised her eyebrows and stepped back waving her hand for Skeeter to open the door.
"Open the door," Jan said again hitting it with her fist.
Skeeter motioned for Nicole to put on her sweater and turned his attention back to the chain lock.  He slowly pulled the chain towards the end of the lock and pulled the door open. Jan pushed the door as Skeeter stepped back to allow her to enter.
"Jan what a surprise to see you here," Nicole said taking a step towards Skeeter's side.
"It's not what it looks like Jan.  Nicole just stopped by to use the shower.  Didn't you Nicole?" Skeeter asked never turning to look at his new lover as he watched Jan closely trying to gauge her anger.
"I see.  And she walks around without her sweater on in front of you too," Jan said as Skeeter quickly turned to see Nicole still bare to the waist.
"Were you out there the whole time listening to us?" Nicole asked smiling.
"Yes.  I heard everything," Jan said taking off her coat and throwing it over the futon.
"Why are you here Jan?" Nicole asked.
"I just happened to be in the neighborhood.  I saw you come up the stairs," Jan lied.
"So now you follow me around when I'm off from work?" Nicole said pulling her sweater over her head as she pulled her long dark hair from under the collar.
"I just wondered what you were doing here," Jan said as her eyes darted from Skeeter to the young secretary.
"I live in the neighborhood.  Skeeter and I are good friends.  Aren't we Skeeter?" she said grabbing his arm and pushing her body into his as she watched Jan's anger grow.
