Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday December 12th 2001 Skeeter put his beer can on the coffee table and picked up the remote turning down the volume on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire". He grudgingly picked up the ringing phone "Yeah," he answered. "Skeeter I have to talk to you right away," Jan said. "What's up Baby," he said watching the losing contestant pretending not to be upset. "I just wanted to make sure you're at home," Jan said. "Yeah, so what's up?" he asked in his slow southern accent. "I thought maybe I'd take you out to dinner." "I've already had dinner. I thought you were going to your Park Avenue Women's Society meeting tonight," he said. "Yeah. I guess I will go if you've already had dinner," she lied. "That's real nice of you to invite me though Baby," he said turning up the volume on the TV slightly. "Are you going to be there all evening," she asked worried that her Father's new secretary Nicole might be at his apartment. Nicole had just informed her that she met Skeeter at the dry cleaners and that the two of them had been out drinking last night before Nicole attended the office party for Manhattan Party Planning. "Yeah. I guess so. What's up with you Jan?" he asked suspiciously. "Nothing. Just missing you. It's been a while since we've been together. Would you like to come over tonight and spend the night with me?" "No I might go over some of my paperwork tonight," he lied. "What paperwork?" "One of my lingerie clients, that's all," he said glancing at the clock on the TV and realizing he didn't have much time left before he should leave to go to his secret lover Elizabeth's Fifth Avenue penthouse. "Are you sure you're being honest with me Skeeter?" "What are you implying, that I'd lie to you?" he asked annoyed that she had interrupted the best part of the game show. "No. I'm not implying anything. I'll let you go," she said glancing out of the limousine window at the traffic on Fifth Avenue. "Good. You know you're my woman. I'll see you tomorrow night as usual," he said referring to their regularly scheduled rendezvous in her bedroom. "Okay. I hope you miss me," she said. "Of course. I can't wait to get my hands on you Baby," he said in his lowest voice. "See you then," she said closing her cell phone. "James, I'll stop by Father's office first," she instructed her driver. Skeeter turned the volume back up on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire," and picked up his can of beer. The phone rang again. He quickly glanced at the caller ID wondering if Jan was annoying him once again. He saw an unfamiliar number and reluctantly picked up the phone. "Yeah," he said not being able to hide his annoyance. "Hi there," Nicole said in her youthful voice. "Yeah. How ya doin?" Skeeter asked unsure whom he was talking to. "You busy right now?" Nicole asked. "Why? Who's this?" Skeeter asked. "You said I was the best looking woman you'd ever met last night," Nicole said referring to his exact words when they first met and had drinks last night at the bar below his apartment on Bleecker Street. "Nicki, Baby," he said relieved she was the only woman he'd seen last night. "I thought I'd drop by my neighbor's house and borrow a cup of sugar," she said seductively. "Well….." he said glancing at the clock again and realizing he didn't have but thirty minutes to get to Elizabeth's penthouse. "You do have sugar don't you?" she asked laughing. CONTINUED TOMORROW.
