Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday December 7th 2001 "Skeeter Diamond. Nice to meet you Nicki," he said. He put his arm on the back of the booth allowing his hand to touch her shoulder. He motioned to the bartender of the Bleecker Street club to refill their drinks. "I know…. I know where I heard that name," she said excitedly as she remembered where she had heard the unusual name in the short time she had been living in New York. "Where?" he asked rubbing her shoulder in the soft sweater and allowing his hand to drift down her arm. He watched as the bartender sat down two more drinks on the table in front of them. "I know this girl named Tiffany Diamond," Nicole said watching his face closely. "Yeah! Well, I'll be damned, that's my ex-wife," Skeeter said in his slow southern accent taking a long sip of his Bourbon and water. "Ex?" "Well, almost." "Good, I'm glad to hear you aren't still married to her," Nicole said laughing and shaking her head in disbelief. "Why? Why do you say that Baby?" he asked glancing down at her long legs in the short leather skirt wondering if he'd score with her soon. "Cause she's got a boyfriend, that's all." "How do you know that?" "Amir, I work with him. I spent the night in his Upper East Side mansion and she was there," Nicole said taking a sip of her wine. "You what?" Skeeter asked putting his glass down on the bar a little too hard and motioning for the bartender to refill it. "Yeah. I got iced in with the storm the other night when I stopped by Amir's to drop off some papers for work. Tiffany was there and I spent the night. Oh, I hope I'm not causing trouble," she said using what she thought was her most innocent expression. "No. No. Like I said we're almost divorced. How did you meet my old lady?" "I work for Stanley Morgan." "What?" he asked. He wondered if his secret lover Jan would find out that he was with her Father's secretary this evening. "Yeah. Do you know him?" "Well, yeah. I've met him at a party one time. Mr. Morgan's going out with my ex-sister-in-law Starlene." "Small world isn't it?" "It sure is. So what kind of work do you do with Stanley?" he asked. "I'm his secretary. I was hired to assist him and Amir on the new building projects for the city." "Damn. You landed yourself a high profile job," Skeeter said impressed. "Yeah it really is. I like it a lot. I've got to go soon, because I'm going to a party tonight and your ex-wife will be there!" she said laughing as she picked up her wine glass and took a sip of her wine. "Over at Manhattan Party Planning," he asked. "Yeah. Want me to give her a message?" "No. I don't have anything to say to her anymore. Like I said we're practically divorced. What about you? Do you have a boyfriend?" "Not yet. I had one in Florida, but we broke up right before I moved here." "So you're lookin'?" he asked noticing her low cut sweater. "I'm still young. I have plenty of time," she said. "Time enough for a fellow southerner like me?" he asked smiling. "I don't know Skeeter. What would your wife say?" she asked slowly crossing her legs when she noticed him glance down at her short leather skirt. "You saw for yourself she's got a rich boyfriend. It's my turn for happiness now." "You mean a good looking man like you doesn't have a girlfriend?" she asked noticing his long masculine fingers as he picked up his glass of Bourbon from the table. "I've got time too, but I'm old enough and wise enough to know when a good one comes my way," he said putting his arm around her and pulling her closer to him. "I think we need to get to know each other a little better," he said as his lips touched the soft skin on her young face. CONTINUED MONDAY. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
