The downtown businesses of NYC were hard hit after the terrorist attack. Chinatown especially suffered because Canal Street was closed for a long time. Since then the tourists have come back and business is picking up again for the stores and street vendors of Chinatown.
Top right you see Canal Street and Centre Street in Chinatown. Crowded sidewalks are the normal in this area and anything less is reason for concern.
Center right picture was taken on Canal Street looking uptown towards Soho.
