Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday November 8^th 2001
"Tell the waiters to bring more flowers for these tables", Clark said as he walked around the banquet room at Tavern on the Green.
"We don't need that many tables Clark," Tiffany said having just finished counting the seats in the room.
"Yes we do.  Stanley invited a few extras at the last minute."
"How many?"
"He invited Charles Lewis and some other publisher," Clark said looking over the basket of flowers in the middle of the table.
"Do you know why he invited him?" Tiffany asked.
"Amir!  How nice to see you," Clark said turning his attention away from Tiffany as Amir walked into the dining room.
"Good to be home," Amir said in his broken English.
"Hi Amir," Tiffany said smiling as she felt her legs weaken at the sight of her handsome lover after many weeks of separation.
"Does America feel like home now?" Clark asked walking towards Amir and extending his hand.
"Yes.  My island is how you say…. Escape for me now," Amir said referring to his small island home off the coast of Tonga.
"How's your wife?" Clark asked referring to Amir's comatose wife.
"Still in sleep," Amir said as he shook Clark's hand.
"I'm sorry to hear that Amir."
"Life, it go on," Amir said patting Clark on the shoulder.
"I have to run to the kitchen and check on the entrées," Clark said noticing that Amir's eyes were fixed on Tiffany.  He quickly walked out of the dining room and down the hall turning to see Amir embracing Tiffany.  He stopped momentarily to watch as Amir held Tiffany very closely.  He could see the handsome foreigner whispering in Tiffany's ear and brushing her long blonde hair from her face as he kissed her cheeks.  He picked up his pace when Tiffany glanced towards him and their eyes met briefly as she caught him watching.
"Where are you rushing off to?" Stanley said almost running into Clark as he walked towards the dining room.
"Hello Stanley, how are you?" Clark asked extending his hand towards the wealthy political insider and his most influential client.
"Oh.  I was just going to the kitchen to make a final check on the dinner for tonight.  Where is Starlene?  Isn't she coming tonight?" Clark asked knowing that Stanley always brought his lover and Tiffany's younger sister to these events. "She's here.  She stopped by the ladies room to work on her hair," Stanley said shaking his head and laughing at his lover's obsession with her long blonde hair.
"Is Nicole bringing a date?" Clark asked worried that he might have an additional guest to concern himself with.
"No.  I don't think so."
"She doesn't have a boyfriend does she?" Clark asked.
"She did have a boyfriend in Florida but they are broken up she said."
"So she's available then?" Clark asked.
"Are you interested?" Stanley asked.  He had never heard Clark mention a girlfriend in the years he had known him and often wondered about him.
"I wondered if I needed to tell the chef we have an additional guest," Clark explained.
"There she is now. You can ask her that yourself," Stanley said as his eyes lit up at the sight of his and Amir's beautiful young secretary as she walked towards them.
"Hi Stan," Nicole said smiling and grabbing the older man by the arm. 
Starlene open the door to the ladies room and walked into the hallway towards the dining room.  She stopped as she turned the corner and in the distance she saw Nicole and Stanley's backs towards her. She watched as Nicole pushed her bosom into Stanley's arm as she kissed the older man on the cheek.  Her heart raced in anger as she watched her older lover's hand make its way down the back of the tight dress Nicole was wearing as he caressed her firm young hips.
