The streets of downtown are some of the most historical and charming in NYC. Top right you see the skyline of NYC at South Street Seaport. The South Street Seaport Historic District encompasses an 11 block area fronting the East River. Here you can visit historic ships, dine and shop in a large mall on the pier.
Walk a few blocks west of South Street Seaport and you'll find the site of the first Cotton Exchange. The picture you see center right is where the Cotton Exchange was located 1870-1896.
Downtown has been rather quiet in the past few weeks. Since the attacks a lot of the streets were closed and the subways didn't run this far south. Bottom right picture you see the Stone Street Tavern. Click here for next page on today's Lower Manhattan photo tour.
