Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday October 26th 2001
"Bring us your most expensive bottle of wine", Stanley told the waiter as he took his seat beside the window in Arqua Restaurant in Tribeca.
"Does she know how to get to the restaurant?" Clark asked referring to the new employee they were meeting for the first time over lunch.
"She's taking a cab."
"Where does she live Stanley," Tiffany asked taking a seat beside her boss Clark.
"She lives in the village."
"Really?  Close to the office?" Clark asked.
"She lives on Bleecker Street," Stanley said.
"That's close.  Matter of fact Skeeter lives on Bleecker. Doesn't he Tiffany?" Clark asked referring to Tiffany's estranged husband.
"Yeah."
"What kind of work did she do before?" Clark asked picking up the menu and glancing at the list of Northern Italian dishes.
"I don't recall," Stanley said realizing he never really read her application before he hired her.
"There's Jan," Clark said rising from his chair as he saw Stanley's daughter approach the table.
"Hello Clark," Jan said.
"Jan, I'm glad you could make lunch on short notice," Stanley said as she walked towards him.
"What's so important Father," Jan said taking a seat as the waiter poured wine in the glasses.
"I want you to meet the new girl," Stanley said.
"Girl?  Is she that young Father?"
"No.  She's very nice and I want everyone to make her feel welcome.
"When does she start her new job?" Clark asked.
"I hope she'll start next week."
"So you've already hired her without me interviewing her?" Jan snapped taking a sip of her wine as soon as the waiter had poured it.
"Yes. I told you I was going to hire the new assistant."
"I think you should have let me interview her first."
"Jan. I don't want to work with someone you choose for me," Stanley said lighting a cigar.
"Maybe I don't want to work with a bimbo either," Jan said.
"Maybe we should just wait and see how everything goes," Clark said hoping to calm everyone's nerves. "Have you told Amir about her?" Clark asked turning towards Stanley.
"No."
"Tiffany did you tell Amir about her?" Jan asked looking down her nose at Tiffany.
"No." Tiffany lied.  She had mentioned it to Amir on the phone that Stanley was hiring a secretary and found out that Amir hadn't known anything about this new employee.
"Look I think I see her cab now," Stanley said excitedly as he glanced out of the window onto Church Street.
"Father you seem very enthused about this girl," Jan said.
"She's very nice," Stanley said watching the young woman's skirt slide up her thighs as she got out of the back of the cab.
"Does Starlene know about this girl?" Jan said never turning her head to look out of the window. "Father... Did you hear me?  Does your little Starlene know about the new girl?" Jan asked as she watched her Father smile nervously as he glanced towards the front door.
"Not yet," he said jumping up from the table and straightening his tie as he watched the young woman walk towards their table.
Jan turned to look towards the entrance to the restaurant and almost dropped her wineglass when she saw the beautiful young dark haired woman smiling at her Father as she walked towards their table.
