Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday October 19th 2001
"I'll call you later," Jan said throwing her palm pilot into her purse and grabbing her jacket from the back of her chair as she walked towards the door of Clark's office to leave.
"Do you have more interviews today?" Clark asked surprised at her sudden departure.
"I'm not sure. Now Father says he wants to hire Amir's assistant," Jan said angrily putting on her jacket and walking towards the door to Clark's office.
"At least you won't have to bother with all of the interviewing," Clark said knowing that Jan was disturbed after just hanging up from a telephone conversation with her Father, the wealthy Stanley Morgan.
"I have to be sure this person he's talking to is right.  I'll call you later," Jan said walking out of Clarks' office and towards the stairway.
"Thanks for coming by.  I'm looking forward to planning a lot of parties soon," Clark said hopefully as he watched her walk down the stairs and open the front door hurriedly.
"Yeah we'll see," she said glancing towards Tiffany as she slammed the door closed.
She walked briskly towards her waiting limousine as the driver rushed to open the door for her.
"Father's office," she said.
"Yes Ms. Morgan."
"Hurry too.  I have to catch him before he makes a big mistake." She had thought that she would be hiring the new assistant that would work for Amir and her.  Now her Father seemed to be taking over her duties and interviewing candidates.  If he made the hiring decision for this new employee, the way he hired secretaries she might be forced to work with a bimbo.
The limo driver turned the long white car onto Fifth Avenue and started to make his way towards the Empire State Building.
"Just pull over anywhere close and I'll walk James," she said noticing the heavy midday traffic.
"Yes Ma'am," he said pulling the long car to the curb near the Empire State Building and getting out to open the door for her.
"Just wait, I'll be right back," she said sliding out of the car and rushing towards the entrance to the building.  She walked quickly through the glistening Art Deco lobby towards the elevator and pressed the button for the 80th Floor.
The elevator door opened and she stepped inside with a group of office workers carrying their bags of take out Chinese food back to their office.  The doors closed and the quick ascension and smell of Shrimp Chow Mein that filled the car made Jan lightheaded.  The elevator stopped on the 75th Floor and the office workers got off chatting fearfully about the impending hostile takeover of their company by a large Texas based oil company.  The elevator glided effortlessly five floors and the doors opened.  Jan walked out of the elevator with her eyes fixed ahead on the glass doors of her Father's office.  She pushed the glass door open and saw several attractive young women seated in the lobby and her Father's young secretary behind the long mahogany desk.
"Mornin' Jan," the young secretary said as she saw Jan walking towards her.
"Is Father in his office?" Jan snapped glancing around at the group of young women waiting to be interviewed by her Father.
"Yes, but he's in an interview now," the secretary said.
"Good, then its not too late," Jan said rushing towards her Father's closed door.
"But Miss Morgan…." The secretary objected remembering that Stanley had buzzed her intercom saying he didn't want to be disturbed under
any circumstances.
Jan took a quick breath at her Father's office door before pushing it open.
The young brunette quickly pulled her sweater down as she and Stanley gazed up from his sofa into Jan's angry shocked face.
