Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday October 17th 2001 "Mr. Morgan we have two applicants in the lobby waiting to see you," Stanley's young secretary said into the phone. "I'll be with them in a minute," Stanley said hanging up. "That was my secretary I've got two more candidates waiting to be interviewed. Can you believe this? I mentioned that I would be hiring an assistant for Amir at a breakfast meeting and the word spread all over town it seems," Stanley said picking up his cigar and taking a long drag. "That's a great idea. Amir's a genius! Did you tell him to fulfill his campaign promises even though he dropped out of the race?" the Senator asked. "Well, I might have mentioned the idea to him," Stanley lied. "I think that by dropping out of the race for mayor and taking his own money to fulfill the campaign promises he could run for any office he wants," the Senator said. "That's the idea," Stanley said leaning back in his plush leather chair with the cigar in his mouth. "You never wanted to run yourself?" "No…. I enjoy the ladies too much for that," Stanley said smiling broadly. "You've got yourself a cute one now Stan," the Senator said thinking about his introduction to the nineteen year old Starlene at one of the parties. "Starlene?" "You got more than one?" "Not right now," Stanley said brushing his gray hair back. "I would think she's enough for a man your age," the fifty something Senator said. "She has a hard time keeping up with me," Stanley said boastfully. "What ever happened to the last one; the one that posed for Playbody?" "You mean Laney?" "Yeah…whew! She was a looker Stanley," the Senator said feeling aroused as he remembered the full-page spread he saved of the young blonde. "She's in California now living with a movie director." "Does that bother you?" "No. It's exactly as I had planned. Variety is the spice of life. We're still friends, and I have something new to keep me interested now," Stanley said referring to Starlene. The phone rang on the desk. "Yeah," Stanley said into the speaker. "Mr. Morgan, one of the applicants needs to know how much longer you'll be?" the secretary asked. "I'll be right there," Stanley said. "I'll let you get back to work," the Senator said getting up from his chair. He turned to watch Stanley put his cigar in the ashtray and follow him towards the lobby. The two men stopped in the hallway to shake hands as the Senator glanced into the lobby seeing the two women that were waiting to be interviewed. One of the candidates had long black hair and the other long blonde hair. Both women were in their early twenties and fashionably dressed. "Who will this new employee work for?" the Senator asked. "She'll be doing the paper work for the opening of the new libraries, day care and community centers that Amir promised in his speech. She'll be answering to me while Amir's out of the country which will be most of the time," Stanley said noticing the young brunettes long legs. "Stanley you do work hard my man," the Senator whispered smiling broadly as he patted the older man on the back. "Variety that's the spice," Stanley said noticing that both young women were smiling at him eagerly. "Is Starlene history?" "Let's just say history does repeat itself doesn't it?" Stanley said nodding towards the women. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
