Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday October 16th 2001 "Tiffany is that you?" Starlene called out from her bedroom when she heard the front door of the apartment close. "Yeah," Tiffany said throwing her purse on the chair and hanging up her raincoat. She picked up the mail from the table beside the door and walked into the living room taking a seat on the sofa. She opened the telephone bill and was glancing through the charges when Starlene walked into the living room pulling her robe around her. "You're home early," Starlene said. "Yeah, Clark and Jan were having a big pow wow and he told me I could come home," Tiffany said glancing up watching Starlene walk towards the sofa. The sun from the picture window illuminated through the robe and Tiffany noticed that her sister wasn't wearing anything under the light blue silk robe. "Don't tell me you're just getting up," Tiffany said glancing back at the phone bill. "Well, I wasn't expecting you home for hours. Stanley's here," Starlene said as Tiffany heard the water turn on in the bathroom down the hall. "Starlene, what are you doing having Stanley over here all day? You should be looking for a job," Tiffany said throwing the phone bill on the table. "Are you going to start with that again?" Starlene asked annoyed as she took a seat on the sofa. "This is very uncomfortable for me to come home and find Stanley Morgan here in my apartment," Tiffany said in an angry whisper. "Well, we can't very well stay at his house," Starlene said. "Why?" "The media." "Well, maybe he should work and so should you." "Come on Tiffany. You're just jealous because Amir's with his wife," Starlene said. "That's not true." "Did Amir call you today?" "Yes." "And?" "He's on his island. I don't know Starlene. The connection was so bad he hung up." "I'm glad he called you. I told you he would." "Yeah, but something is up." "What do you mean?" "Jan seemed really happy today when she stopped by to see Clark. She said that Amir gave her a promotion and they are hiring an assistant." "Really?" "Yeah. That's all I know. Amir never said anything to me about an assistant. I feel like I'm the last one to know anything these days. I mean he dropped out of the mayor's race and I found that out on television. He left to go be with his wife on their island and called me the next day. I think it must be over with us Starlene," Tiffany said. "This is just a hard time for him with all of the media following him. He'll call you soon," Starlene said. "Hello Tiffany," Stanley said walking into the living room as he straightened his tie. "Hi Stanley," Tiffany said quickly taking her feet off the coffee table and pulling the bottom of her skirt to cover her thighs. "Stanley do you know anything about Amir and Jan hiring an assistant?" Starlene asked. "Yeah," he said glancing in the mirror on the wall as he brushed his gray hair back with his hand. "It was my suggestion," he said glancing at his watch. CONTINUED TOMORROW.
