Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday October 4th 2001 "I have to go. I'm at work," Tiffany said nervously. Her hand started to shake as she held the phone and glanced up to see her boss walking towards her desk carrying today's newspaper. "I bet you wouldn't have to go if Amir called you," Skeeter said looking down at the newspaper on his coffee table with the picture of his wife and her lover, the NYC mayoral candidate Amir, as they left his Upper East Side Mansion arm and arm yesterday morning. "I'll talk to you later," Tiffany said hanging up the phone. "Was that Amir?" Clark asked walking towards her desk with the newspaper in his hand. "No," she said not wanting to bring anymore of her personal life into the office. "Here's the article and picture," Clark said placing the folded newspaper on Tiffany's desk and talking a seat in a chair beside her desk. Tiffany's eyes glanced down at the picture of Amir and her, then she quickly read the article. The newspaper had reported that Amir's Mother-in-law was angry over the publicity about their romance and had taken Amir's comatose wife back to their island home to recover. "This is horrible," Tiffany finally said after quickly reading the article. "Oh, it's not that bad. They never mentioned where you work though," he said his voice full of regret. "No, they didn't," she said not really caring. "Think about what I said Tiffany…. I mean if Amir tells you he's going to drop out of the race. You could tell the media. That would be great. We could have a news conference here. You could use my office," he said nodding towards the upstairs of his townhouse. "I don't know about that. I've already caused Amir enough trouble." "I don't want to pry Tiffany." "Thanks Clark," she said hoping he would drop the subject. "But this is all happening on my time. You know what I mean?" he asked referring to the fact that he had warned her when he hired her that she would lose her job if she ever became involved with his client Amir. Since the truth about her relationship with Amir had come out in the media the publicity seemed to have helped his sagging party planning business. "I'm sorry." "I don't want to seem nosey, but I need to know." "What Clark?" "Are you and Amir…. I mean he hasn't said anything about breaking off your relationship over this publicity has he?" "No." "You still spend the nights with him in his mansion?" "I only stayed that night right after his wife left town," Tiffany said feeling her face start to redden. "Good. I'm glad the two of you are happy. Well, I better leave. I have that appointment uptown in a few minutes and I'm almost late already. Just think about what I said," he said glancing at his watch as he walked towards the door. "Are you coming back in today?" "I don't know," he said as he reached for the door handle to open his front door. "Skeeter?" he said surprised as the front door opened and Tiffany's estranged husband swaggered in. "Hay Clark. How ya doin' man?" Skeeter said stepping inside the entrance hall and patting Clark on the shoulder. "I'm fine. Did you come by to see me or Tiffany?" Clark asked nervously watching Skeeter as he glanced towards Tiffany. "Are you leaving? I just stopped by to see my ol' lady," Skeeter said. "I have to go to a meeting," Clark said. "Nice seeing you". "You'll be okay Tiffany?" Clark asked glancing towards his secretary. "Sure," she said smiling to hide her fear. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
