Most New Yorkers never venture uptown far enough to see the area of Harlem known as Sugar Hill. Harlem suffered from a bad reputation for many years, but the area has gained in popularity recently. President Bill Clinton opened his new offices in Harlem putting his stamp of approval on an area that we have been enjoying and photographing for the last several years. Center right picture you see some of the grand homes of Sugar Hill. This affluent black area was home to such famous people as Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Thurgood Marshall and Langston Hughes between the 1920's and 1950's.
