The recovery efforts continue downtown and we will show you more pictures of that in the coming days. Yesterday the flags were raised ending the official mourning period although it will continue in our hearts for a long time. Today New Yorkers head back to the voting booths in the mayoral primary elections. After the attack on the morning of September 11th the polls closed, so now we start over. We thought today we could all use a change of pace, so we are heading uptown on our daily photo tour to the Upper West Side.
The Upper West Side has a history of attracting famous people. In the past Mae West, Rita Hayworth and Judy Holliday all lived on the Upper West Side. It's easy to see why today even more rich and famous people choose the Upper West Side as their home.
Top left picture you see Broadway and the Ansonia Building in the distance.
Top right picture you see residents buying fruit at a vendor on the sidewalk of Broadway.
Center right picture you see Columbus Avenue. It's not unusual to see a famous star dining in one of the trendy expensive restaurants on Columbus Avenue. It's not unusual these days to see stars helping out in the relief efforts too.
